Official 370 Sundancer thread

I sent my dart to DMI he tuned and calibrated it best he could. Still works. He still has some parts for it but i bought the raymarine i50 just dont know where to fish transducer to the helm. My have pro do it. Sounds like you have similar aged equipment as myself.

I’m told the match is a perko barrel bolt latch. I’m unsure of the size. 3,4, or 5 inch. Because the descriptions say overall dimension. But the come with a metal receiver end so not sure if that’s included in the dimension. Anyway I ordered the 5”. Hope it fits. I’ll let y’all know for future reference.
It’s the 5” from perko FYI.

I’d like to avoid replacing. Purely for the same reason. The transducer. Routing from the helm to the bilge isn’t bad. But I’m not sure what it would take to install the thru hull. Would be nice if there was one that would swap out with the dart mount.

Those pictures of the upholstery all apart and being rebuilt on 370sundancer.com are mine. We made starboard bones for every piece. Those frames have been through 2 skin jobs over the last 15 years or so. Some people remove the passenger seat completely and turn it into a serving area. Yes, the SP18 ice maker has to come out, or maybe it's a fridge by now. 4 thru bolts hold the seat on. I would hazard a guess that if you could find one that was close enough in color and style, that just about any helm seat could bolt up in its place, or even swivel.

Got it done. Not nearly to the extent or quality of 370Dancer ‘s work. But a repair none the less. My frame was still in pretty good shape. But the years of water and leaning over the upright broke the side supports. So I just replaced those.

Of course I cant go in the engine room without thinking about the next project. Has anyone else had issue with the depth reading from the datamarine "Dart" display unit? Mine tends to drop the depth reading fairly often but speed and temp still fine. From the posts I can find, it may be a transducer. Are these in the pic both for the datamarine or perhaps one is for my raymarine c120? They both appear to be factory so thinking my c120 transducer is hidden somewhere else.

Assuming they're both for the datamarine, anyone know if they both have to be replaced or if one is specifically for the depth and the other for speed & temp?
And anyone just replaced the whole system with something similar?

bump. Don’t think I ever heard anyone say anything about these transducers. Does anyone know if both of these serve the Dart multi display? Mines quit reading both temp and speed now. Would like to change to the raymarine i50. Bit not sure what I’m in for with changing transducers.

This is an ambivalent day but I am putting my 96 370 up for sale if you know of anyone looking for a good boat this size. I purchased a larger vessel and had my 370 sold to a neighbor at my marina but they had to sadly cancel the purchase yesterday with the short term issues we are having in our economy. We love this boat and it is in excellent shape, completely updated and to save the marriage I had Florida Bow Thrusters install Vetus bow and stern thrusters about 3 years ago! Actually some of you might remember this boat. I purchased it from WolfTC who was a big contributor on this forum when he owned the boat. If you search for his posts on here you will see most of the things that were done to this boat (NMEA2k Backbone, new electronics with 4K radar, best stereo system in the marina, new galley flooring, etc). After my purchase I add the thrusters, a new Camper style canvas in 2019 and a few other items. I am asking $90K and will be putting it in the Sea Ray Classified section shortly. Let me know if you are interested, the boat is located in bay CIty MI. Again it has been a tremendous boat and I am going to miss her.View attachment 81098
Where is the boat now? I have a friend looking

That was a very common problem on that seat. Good job.
The previous owner of my 370 removed that seat and had it completely rebuilt. But, instead of putting the new seat back in, he decided to install a Corian countertop in its place. I have the brand new seat stored in my basement but love the extra countertop space in cockpit. Comes in handy when you are doing cookouts and need a place to put food, etc... He said it was pretty easy to do.

I like it! Considered adding some type of quick release mount to the seat. And making a countertop that fits the same mount. For that very option. Added to ever growing list of unnecessary things to do...

Reposting this question... I hope in the right place. I'm new to boat ownership and to this site. 1998 sundancer 370-- my engine hatch is stuck partially open. It "tried" to open this morning (sounded weak). It opened enough to get it manually opened, but now there is no sound when I try the hatch switch. Now there is no power at the hatch motor (checked with volt meter).

Is there a fuse or a breaker somewhere?

You are going to need this. Engine room breakers tend to be in the engine room, dash breakers tend to be at the helm, and cabin breakers tend to be in the cabin.

Sincerely... Thank you! Clearly I’m in a bit over my head. I didn’t realize there were breakers behind the panel at the helm. Learning curve is steep, but I am in this now!

Having said all that, the 1995 model had a different hatch arrangement, and it was 3 separate hatches instead of one big one. So the wiring diagram, and the parts manual don't really reference the hatch actuator. I'll look at mine this morning and see if I can figure out which Accessory circuit is being used.

Ahoy captains!
Checking things off for this season. My next big item on this list is an electronics upgrade. Where I’m located I don’t really have anyone nearby to help me with determining the best system and components needed. Does anyone have a good recommendation for someone knowledgeable in navigation electronics that could help me? I feel like I can do the swap/install. I’m really just looking for advice on the best brand and model of equipment. And which, if any, of my existing components will adapt.
Ideally I can still use my Autohelm steering pump. To keep the work to only wiring and electronics.
And, ideally, I can find a setup that uses a transducer that doesn’t require thru-hull mount. Rather, surface mount inside the engine room. Haul-out is a big problem here for me for distance, time, cost.
My wants for the system are to just have a good chart plotter / MFD that works an auto pilot. Good radar for cruising at night. And decent depth sonar (don’t need to a fancy fish finder, just want to see the bottom).
Current equipment:
- Raymarine C120 multifunction display
- Raymarine raydome radar
- Raymarine DSM 250 sonar w/ thru-hull transducer
- Raymarine 650 autopilot control head & core pack (brain)
- Raymarine rudder position sensor
- Autohelm hydraulic pump (not sure on the model)
- Datamarine Dart 2490 w/ thru-hull transducer

The only thing I’m guessing/hope I might be able to salvage is hydraulic pump.
Appreciate any thoughts on this or pointing me to someone that knows their stuff and can help me find the best place to purchase.

If your dart 2490 still works with clear screen let me know..

Hi all. Over the weekend we cleaned and dewinterized for the season. In the aft cabin is a gold reading light attached to the bulkhead. I barely tapped it with a rag and it snapped off the bulkhead. They mounted it with a plastic mount and it must have gotten brittle over the years as it just snapped at the two mounting screws and I barely touched it. The light is a Cantalupi. I found a guy in Australia that has a replacement. I just need the mount but could not find one anywhere. He had mounts too but wanted almost as much for the mount as the whole light. Anyway i pulled the wiring carefully out of the bulkhead and the light is connected with male female connections. I don't want to cut them but I cannot figure out how to get them apart. Is there a tab you have to press? Do they come apart at all?

As someone that is 70% of the way through upgrading my 1997 vintage electronics I can share with you the following.

1.) Pick a brand. Hit West Marine and play around with them. I went with Garmin because of the user interface. I personally feel the Garmin units are the "Apple" of marine devices. Easy to use, intuitive. Simard is more prominent around my docks. Raymarine is probably the least popular for those upgrading around me. This brand talk is very much Ford vs Chevy. They are all great.

2.) Your older gear is not likely to interface with the new, digital gear.

3.) Your existing autopilot is generally regarded as "very good" and replacing it should not be taken lightly.

4.) I don't think surface mount transducers will work with our hull construction/materials?

5.) Radar with a decent sized MFD will be the most expensive part of your upgrade. I'm assuming your radome is analog and as such it will not be compatible with newer MFD's.

Faced with a similar decision to yours here's the route I took: I've installed two Garmin 7" plotters at the helm along with a Garmin VHF. They are networked together and with a Fusion stereo in the cabin. I skipped the transducer but may add one in the future. This is my "70%" upgrade. I'm leaving my autopilot as-is since it's bullet proof and for the amount I use the pilot it's not worthy of the $$$'s to switch it to Garmin...yet. And last, I'm saving my coins for a used digital Garmin radar. When I have the cash ready for the 4' array and pedestal I'll also buy a used 10"/12" plotter to go with it. Network the whole thing and be done...likely just in time to sell the boat, get a new (to me) one and start over :)
