Building Searay 380DA Fiberglass Hardtop

Henry:
Great point....I am currently out on the boat and even after a few wakes etc no issues.
I do plan on doing a full Isenglass wrap around windshield and side curtains (all with removable sections).

If vibration becomes an issue I can add some HDPE plastic between the struts and hardtop mounts very easily

Enjoying the shade of the hardtop....rock solid!

If you can find it, try EPDM foam. If you’re not familiar it’s a closed cell high density foam. I’ve used it to isolate parts on commercial transportation equipment (trucks, trailers etc). It works great for mounting stuff to fiberglass noses on tractors and attaching polymer/fiberglass fairings to the vehicle.

Waiting for the canvas folks to come and make new Isinglass forward enclosure....so I added Port and Stbd small convex mirrors to the hardtop. I can use them standing up or sitting down, they are aimed so that I can see my wake etc and get some warning when those friggin jet skiers come up close to jump the wake and scare the crap out of me when their wide open jet intake sucks air before it slams down.....

Any chance we can see a wide profile shot of the whole boat?

Yeah, just from either side would be cool.

Went out in the boat yesterday...here is a shot from the Stbd side. When i make the rear hardtop, it will only extend to about that first bimini top "hoop" or say just a little bit past those two bimini top vertical supports attached to the radar arch.

The hardtop is the bomb!

Wish I was local, I would tighten up that floppy aft Bimini top for you.

Yeah I know!.....its a fit issue. Previous owner cheaped out and the person who made it didnt do such a good job. No matter how I try to adjust the bows/struts, I still cant get it to fit AND be able to attach the enclosures.
Will be corrected when I make the rear hardtop as I will have a new partial rear bimini made.

Couple more photos as I was fooling around in the dinghy after working on the anchor roller....

By the way has anyone ever had the rub rail under the anchor roller pushed down? It seems like a bad design as there is very little clearance under the roller frame and the deck and any flex in the deck when pulling up the anchor pushes the roller frame down on the rub rail. I am thinking of building a SS support arm under the frame and back to the hull .

I am careful when pulling the anchor up to motor forward and not use the windlass to pull the boat to the anchor.

COMPLETED - UPDATE
Got new Isinglass windshield for the hardtop.....went with soild (non-opening) front glass as it is easier to slide out panel....did have zippered openings for side curtains.

Will start build on rear hardtop in the Fall/Winter

Stay Safe everyone
