The port windshield vent actuator stopped working on my 2006 48 sundancer. Any one have any tips or input on what breaks on these, how to fix them and where I can get one besides for a sea ray dealer? The starboard side works fine. I know how to get at it and remove it. Just looking for input from someone that may have been through this.

Mine just took a poop too. It seems my problem is the electrical limit switch inside. The motor and screw drive all work fine. It will go up, but will not come back down. If you screw the shaft back down a couple turns, it will then begin working again. You can lower it back down, raise it back up and then it's stuck again.

Maybe a little better description of the problem would help.

Anyone have a schematic of these things, or any info about the limit switch?

We had the same issue, found out you got to treat it like most women boys: soft and gentle! Don't open fully and take it slow when opening and closing and keep it greased. We had to buy a new one (motor went out) and here's the link for the actuator: https://progressiveautomations.com/ We bought the following 1 x Mini Linear Actuator (Stroke Size 4", Force 15 Lbs, Speed 1.18"/sec) (PA-14-4-15) = $108.99. A lot less than from "you know where":) Hope that helps:)

Liberally lube the shaft (wd40 or similar) and run the motor back and forth, the lube will work its way down to the sticky limit switch. This has worked on numerous occassions. Good Luck

Thanks for the info, how do you removed the actuator or get to them to service them
mine on the port side is not working

I have a 2005 420 dancer with a vent window that would not open. Watched the boat guy video and went to progressive for new actuator and it worked great and a pretty simple job.
Thanks to the Boat guy for a great video with links to product.

Do you have a link for that video?

I treated mine like my wife after it stopped working. Yelled at it with some f bombs, then ignored for a bit and then just threw some money at it and got a new one. Cheaper on e bay but make sure you measure it.

Mine stops once in a while... if you have one person on the window and one on the switch you can pull or push it to work again... don’t give up without giving that a try.
I also 303 the rubber regularly so the window doesn’t get stuck to the rubber after sitting for a while

I took my original apart to fix and lube. Worked 1 day and died again. Thats why i replaced with what i posted. Just do yourself a favor. Real all the way in and make sure screw holes match. Mine was 1/4 off so i had to reset. If not would pull too hard and break glass

Mine will try once and if it's stuck it will not work again for about half hour. this happens if I haven't opened it in a while and it's a little stuck to the seal. Does that mean that it's going? Once I unstick it, it's fine back and forth until the next week or so when I try to use it without unsticking it.

Mine will not work sometimes and the lights on the other switches will flash off/on when I push the button. The last two weeks it has worked like it should.....

Does the cover just snap on and off?

I bought a new actuator, spliced the plug end from old unit and plugged it in. I get a clicking noise from what sounds like under the helm, but no movement. The old unit had a black and yellow coming from motor. Black goes to actuator piston base and the yellow went to plug. A red comes out of actuator base and goes to plug. The new unit had only red and black leads, no jumper between motor and actuator base. I connected black to black and yellow to red and get clicks.
Is there a relay, the click sounds like that to me. Do i have wiring wrong?
