40 sedan bridge forum

There is an O-ring between the housing and the glass bowl and an O-ring on the threaded cap, not sure which your looking for. I can tell you that my sea strainer for the A/C is a Groco ARG 750. You should be able to find all the replacement parts with an internet search.

thanks. It’s the O-ring on the cap I am curious about. May just buy a few sizes and see what works.

And someone else gave me that Groco number too. Should take a BS-2 basket. But that one is 7” long (end to end) and the one I pulled out is 5”. Same diameter but More like a BS-1. Not sure if the prev owner just bought something that fit or if I have a slightly shorter strainer. Have to go back to the boat to measure stuff and look for a strainer model number.

Marks I think is factory original. Here's the replacement the previous owner put on my boat about 7 years ago. Just noticed from the picture I was supposed to be oiling it every 6 months. Never knew that. Never have. Guess I better go buy a ready to go spare.

Yep, that's the one that failed on me. That plate is just an electric motor plate though so I'm not sure what to order. I'm having our marina service manager take a look.

Thanks you guys for the quick help though. I did get the strainer basket ordered immediately. I'm trying very hard to salvage what is left of the beginning of boating season. As soon as it gets nice we'll probably get the rona and end up home for two weeks...

Just the wet ends are available if that's all you need. 0150-0147-0100 (1000 gph)
I accidentally posted the 500 GPH wet end number earlier. Good luck

Throwing this out there again, a couple years old full bridge canvas. Fits 1999-2003, make a reasonable offer.

Opening boat for the “season” and have a few questions.
1. Need a strainer basket for AC
2. Need an AC water pump
3. How do you search this forum?

im on an iPad and can’t seem to find what I need. Thanks in advance for any help.
Is the motor dead or just the pump? A rebuild I found online for about 85 bucks. Also have you shot pressure through the line? A couple years ago water trickled out. I hooked a hose off of the pump and Turned it on. Water blasted out and following the pump shot water out in a hard stream. No replacement whole unit or pump replacement needed. If the motor is dirty but working I would pull, clean and just rebuild... I think I found the whole unit for $269? this spring

I have a hose glassed into the bulkhead in front of the engines. It appears that fresh water is flowing through the hose into the bilge below the ac pump.

Does anyone know when that hose originates? Trying to determine where the water is coming from.

It's possibly the overflow line for the shower sump located in the companionway compartment. Factory install dumped the overflow into the forward bilge just in front of that bulkhead, where the bilge pump could pump it out. A previous owner may have extended that overflow line through the bulkhead into the engine room. I know some on here have made that modification themselves.

Look under the inside bunk in the 2nd stateroom to see where it come from. Maybe a previous owner added it as a discharge for the shower sump overflow. That's what I did with mine. I had the float switch stick once on the shower sump and when the overflow was just allowed to drain to an area in front of that bulkhead and make a mess, I decided to do that addition. I did it through a thru hull type fitting, but glassing in a hose could work. Now if that happens again, the water just flows into the forward engine room bilge. Just a guess.

Well there's 2 of us with the same guess.....good luck
Thanks to both of you for the quick response. It’s been awhile since I looked under the bunk but I have not used the shower since November as the boat was on the hard until today for a bottom job. There may be a rain leak somewhere that is ending up in that compartment. Will take a look there next time I am on the boat.

So while down at the boat I noticed here in this spot I had a crack and was able to pull about a gallon of water out of it. Any Ideas?! worried I have to do a huge job ahead of me. The Prev owner had a bad sump and water used to fill there for a season, but should not have caused this... sorry for using your pic, but I do not have a pic myself.

The freshwater hoses run all along that compartment. Could very well be a leaking fitting. I had a leak right at the sump area from the main cold water line.

Hi All. I am officially an owner of a new to us 2001 400DB. 3126 Caterpillar diesels. We are selling our 2000 310 Sundancer. Found the boat on the Chesapeake and have to bring it to New England, Marion, MA soon. My wife and I have also launched a website, youtube channel and instagram that chronicles our travel adventures cruising the southwest of MA. We will be adding the Chesapeake to Marion trip once it happens. Feel free to subscribe and follow. Thanks!

How did you "pull" about a gallon of water out? Vacuum? I'm guessing that's a lot of water for plywood. Maybe there's a void under that floor with water in it?
I have no experience with that type of problem except watching a storage neighbor deal with saturated hull sides. That was an older Sea Ray with cored sides. There was so much water in the side that when he drilled holes in the side just above the chine, water ran out for several days. He dried it out using vacuum pumps to pull warmed air through the coring. Ran the pumps all winter while it was in storage. Sorry I can't help. Maybe post your question outside of the 400DB thread and someone with some experience on this type of thing will chime in. Good luck.

I spent time today tracing the hose and it is the overflow for the sump box. Weird thing is the water level in the sump is well below this hose but there is a continuous trickle of water flowing from it into the bilge. All I can think is there may be a partial obstruction or low point in the hose that is keeping it from completely draining. Will bring a compressor this weekend to try and blow out.
