Is your Marina considered an essential business?

What a dick that guy was. The LEO's were just trying to do their job and be polite about warning people. Then this Sh!thouse lawyer comes along and challenges the LEO's.

I was a cop long enough to learn that with AH's like that you give 'em one warning. Next time you talk with them they aren't going to like the outcome. But hey, they can 'splain dat to da judge.

My marina is open, restaurant for takeout, and detailers are doing buff and wax as I speak. Detail crew said they were considered essential :D So my boat will be pretty when I leave for a week Saturday

Sounds like the Marina is picking and choosing what they consider essential. No pump outs? And others mentioned shutting down bathrooms? Sadly the illegal discharging will be rampant.

I think it’s to keep the employees away from the boaters to protect them. Our pumpout has to be operated by a staff member

We finally got two rain free days in a row.
Polished starboard side below the rubrails and applied first coat of wax on that side yesterday.
Did the same with the port side today.
Need at least two more coats a day apart.
Hoping to get the bottom prepped, painted and new zincs by Monday.
Hoping the weather cooperates.
Once that’s all done I’ll get started on rubrails to deck section of sides. I can do that in the water, but it’s a lot easier to do on the hard.
Topsides, transom and swim platform can all be done in the water.

My marina here in Pinellas County FL just announced they are closed until the end of the month. No forklift moves. High and dry shutdown. Wet slips are good so I'm happy. Now there won't be 400 boats at the sandbar and I can enjoy the weekends in peace all by my self on my boat anchored up in a undisclosed location with no boat wakes and idiots running around past anchored boats. BTW I hate jet skis. Lol

Local Bubba by me is having no part of this no boating nonsense. SMH....

What a dumbass! That cop was as professional and nice as he could be and there is always some idiot want to buck the system and give these guys a hard time. I tip my cap to law enforcement and you have my full respect. Sorry they have to deal with these idiots.

He makes some points all be it to the wrong people... he needs to take it up with his state reps. My take aways.

1. 50ft ?.... where did that number come from ... 6' everywhere else
2. What if 2 people per boat....technically you could have 5 boats rafted off with the 10 people rule
3. Closing beaches?... but there are parking lots, sidewalks etc
4. You can stand in the water on the beach but not stand on the beach next to the water .... What the heck is that ?
5. He is wearing a Constitution T-shirt on his day off :)

I get it ...we need to be socially distance but it needs to make sense. Florida has a tough problem to solve because of the demographics....thankfully they are not as densely populated as other states/cities

My marina is putting in docks, but I don’t think they will open until this stay at home is lifted. I have a question. Why are ice cream parlors open??? Is it an essential food? To some maybe. There’s one by me and a line 6 feet apart often. I guess to stop the insanity.

They closed all marinas in MD on Monday night --no access period
Marinas in Southern MD are open hit and miss. You can call in orders for parts at some and pick them up at the door. Owners can be seen working on their boats. Although most marina offices are closed and they are not doing any servicing, they still have dock personnel walking the docs daily checking for issues. Interesting enough, DNR has patrol boats (2) at one marina and requested they get them in the water and the marina told them the same thing as anyone else - sorry, we cannot until the restrictions are lifted. The boats are still sitting in the same place. Guess access depends on where you are.
It is going to be very interesting to see how many businesses, marinas, etc survive after this is finally over. One of my paper distributors expects to lose 30% of their accounts. It is going to be a difficult struggle for many to get anywhere near back to the "normal" they had prior to COVID19.

i just got back from an top down errand to the post office and swung by the beach and Grand Isle Marina on the way home. Our small town was hopping today. Teenagers hanging at the beach, bikers everywhere, cars everywhere, lawn maintenance companies hard at work with spring clean ups, and a nice sport fisherman in its slip at Grand Isle. Owner was sitting on his boat and enjoying our nice weather. One would never know there was an issue with a pandemic judging from the crowds. I suppose that is why we have the pandemic. Many folks acting as if nothing is going on.

Just a matter of time before this blossoms in out state areas. I'm in SE Michigan and it's a big deal here. Haven't left the house in a couple weeks and my wife has been to Meijer twice since the first week of March. On the plus side, the lawn work is way ahead of schedule.

We can't stop living. Riding a bike, jogging, walking, at the beach or in the park, with the proper precautions regarding distance and PPE, is ok. Sitting alone on your boat is in fact social distancing. They can't just close us up in our homes.

I agree. It would be nice to see some proper precautions with distance and PPE. None of that was in evidence in GH today. All, except the guy on his boat, were in violation of the executive order. Would really like to get the landscaping work started on our new home but my vendor has elected to follow the government's executive order. That's what I get for doing business with an ethical contractor. It's irritating to see other contractors flagrantly violating the rules.
