Replacement for Norcold DE-541 Fridge

Based on the measurements I took for the closet under the sink I have Opening: H-21" x W16" x D19 1/2". So looks like TJ18S should be a goot fit measuring at TJ18S 1.8c/f, H20 9/16, Width 15 5/8, Depth 18 1/4

Do you guys think that Tundra is better than Isotherm?

The Vitrifrigo America fridge is available in Canada from Northland Supply, who are in North Bay, I believe...Info from Northland follows:

Size of the T4.2 fridge.

The total Width is 23" with flange
The total Height is 30 1/2" with flange

Also, the flange may be removed to get it in though the doorway(screws hold it on)

Height 30 1/8
Width 21-1/8
Depth 21-5/8
The plus's on this fridge are it's an AC/DC and will only draw 3.2 amps at 12 volts.
You will also fine it very quiet.

Your cost on this marine fridge is...$1257.94 Canadian

Regards...BP

do you have the specific model number of the fridge you purchased? It appears that the cooling units are separated from the fridge itself. Guessing that makes it smaller in size to get through doorways.

Cannot get a hold of bpalmer00 about the model. Does anyone know what Vitfrigo model is the perfect fit for the 1998 330DA?

Hope this helps with your shopping.

Thank you so much for the link. Will do some further research on the Nova Kool 5810.

Question though, With those dimensions of that model how was it getting into the boat? Did you have to disassemble the new fridge to get through the doorway?

It just barely fits down the hatchway. Definitely a two person job to avoid ripping the vinyl walls or damaging the door. I took the fridge door off first.

Looks like I will be choosing between the following three

Nova Kool R5810
Vitfrigio C130RBD4-F
Isotherm Cruise CR130 Elegance

All will require some work to make them fit in the hole that the NeverCold is in but what other choice do I have really?

If you go with the Nova kool, you should read this Thread if you haven't already:
http://clubsearay.com/index.php?threads/hull-question-about-a-1996-330-sundancer.50925/

I went with Nova Kool and it fit after following the tips in that thread. My boat is a Tennessee build. Nova Kool has been fantastic.

I have decided on the Nova Kool R5810 model. Mainly because of the size specifications are the closest to the NorCold and it is larger in cubic feet than the other brands. Of course is is the most expensive so far, but I am hoping I will be the happiest with it.

So far the cheapest I have found it is with Sure Marine in Washington State.
Nova Kool R5810 5.8 CU FT AC/DC Single Door Refrigerator with Freezer

Anyone have any other recommendations. Possibly in the midwest or east coast?

Consider buying from Canada. The Canadian dollar has tanked against the US dollar. This is where I bought mine. Located in Kingston ON so shipping to where you are should be OK.

I ordered my Nova Kool from Sure Marine. It was not cheap, but works like a champ. They build to order so takes some time and delivery was not cheap. Has to deliver to a business.

UPDATE: Changed my mind on the Nova Kool. Mainly because nobody has them in stock. Very frustrating to say the least. You would think that any dealer would react for someone willing to shell out $1500 for a product. Guess not.

So I decided on the Vitrifrigo C130RBD4-F with the Flush flange mounting kit from Fisheries Supply in Seattle WA. Price came to $1068.00 + $200.00 shipping. And it was in stock and shipped out the next day. Great part about this unit is the cooling unit/compressor is separate from the fridge. Its permanently connected with the electrical and plumbing tubes about 4' in length. Makes it a little tight but it was a dream job getting into the boat with no disassembly of the boat or the fridge.

Here are some photos of the installation.

Here is the cavity. You can see I added some wood on each side because of the entrance because the Vitrifrigo is slightly narrower than the Norcold.

I drilled holes through the wall for the cooling unit shelf. Other side is within the head cabinet (lower) where the plumbing is and will not be visible unless you were to really look inside the cabinet.

I attached some dense foam on the underside of the shelf so to help with any impact to the cooling unit.

Here you can see the cooling unit mounted on the shelf.

After I shimmed and mounted the fridge. I ordered some .125 inch plastic trim to hide what gap there is on each side. When I install that I will take some pics of the finished product.

For the most part is was quite the project but I am very satisfied with the end result. I have never had a boat fridge with a light in it either. Quite spacious and quiet running so far
