I debated posting this. I am only going to post facts and factual information that I witnessed myself. You can form your own opinion....

Dock neighbor purchased a 2004 Cruisers Yacht 400 Express in Stuart,FL. Hull survey and engine survey both turned out well. The boat had spent all but the last 10 months of its life on a freshwater lake here in GA. My neighbor was going to bring it back to Lake Lanier in GA. He contracted Stealth Transport to bring it up here. All is good until it gets loaded on a trailer. Items on top of the arch were removed, but all else was a to be hauled intact. There was about a 3-day delay from the initial day it was supposed to load and leave. He was told they had to replace an axle on the trailer. 3 days later it loaded and left FL and was supposed to be delivered the following day. The following day, he got a phone call that the trailer had been stopped somewhere and flagged for an over height load. It was taken somewhere and impounded. He had to fax all kinds of documents to a company there proving that he owned the boat. Then someone was located to dismantle the arch. The boat sat somewhere in impound for 3-4 days before the arch was removed. Rather than pulling the wires out of the arch, they were just cut. The arch was laid down on top of the gunnels and swim platform with no padding nor covering whatsoever and hauled. At some point, the cabin had been vandalized. The cabin door kicked in, the AC controls ripped off of the wall, and the toilet lid and seat ripped partially off. To top it all off, the boat was delivered to the receiving marina on this end and the truck hauled butt. The driver was supposed to call when he arrived for a release to be signed, but instead he took off and the marina called my friend. The tracks that the biminis fit in on the arch were destroyed. Numerous abrasions and chips on the swim platform and the arch. To tie the boat down to the trailer, straps were wrapped around the rudder and pulled tight to the trailer.

I arrived at the marina about 30 minutes after my friend and witnessed the above. All will be fixed and made like new. The only thing the owner of the transport company really told him was. “Well, this is why we have insurance....”.

I felt so bad for him. I had such a good experience when my 44DB was hauled here. Not a scratch and all wiring was disconnected by unscrewing a fitting. It is left to be seen how much hassle he has recovering his money.

I was so blessed the gut who has worked on my boat went down to Atlanta and broughtt my boat back to WV. He had to bring his jacks with him to take it off the brokers trailer who could not get the permits.

What a mess, sounds like it turned a day that he was really looking forward to into an absolute mess.
When hauling, I have always looked for proof that they can haul a boat similar to mine and NEVER take the low price. I hope that he gets all of the repairs made is satisfied in the end

Imagine the excitement your dock neighbor had finding the boat he wanted, with a great inspection, finding a currier, to only have that excitement destroyed when the boat finally arrived in that condition. I hope it works out better for him after the repairs.

Have the owner of the boat report it to his insurance company. They will go back against the hauler's insurance company for the repairs.

No insurance claim erases the damage history and damage to what should be a joyous purchase of a prized possession. It is one thing if there is truly accidental damage that is unavoidable. Damaged caused by an entity due to pure incompetence is un forgivable and all the bad press that bankrupts the company is warranted. The owner of the hauling company should only be allowed to haul gravel or hay, and that is being charitable. My friend had a 420 hauled from Seattle to SF Bay area. No major damage but the trucker had been hired to sub for an experienced hauler. Harold asked the guy when he showed up how many boats he ever hauled and the guy said this is my first! Harold was not happy. All of the wires had been cut at the bridge. all of the new Markalon had been just thrown on the forward berth with no protection between the pieces. The owner of the hauling outfit was slow to return Harold's call until he found that the check was held at the bank! I hope I never fall in love with a boat that needs over the road delivery.

Had a similar, but not quite as bad experience having a Silverton hauled from Michigan to WV. Driver went under a low underpass and clipped the top of the bridge. The helm was laid down on the non skid with no padding and scratched up pretty bad, not to mention the fact the wires were also cut at the arch and all the screws and bolts thrown into a cup holder with no labeling. The driver said he would pay but ended up disappearing and I was left holding the bag! Never get online shipping quotes without references!

The whole issue was around the excitement of finally getting it here only for it to arrive in a mess. Stealth Transport has a beautiful website and he trusted them to make the move. When we moved my 44DB, my hauler told me he could basically haul anything I wanted him to, he just needed the right permitting. He had a permit company that he called once he loaded the boat and checked the height and width. They gave him the permits and the route to take. The pilot car had a whip that was set 6” taller than the load. If it touched, the whole procession stopped and the pilot car driver rode on top under the overpass. These people never had a real clue how tall this boat was sitting on the trailer I guess.
The boat will be put back into perfect condition I am sure, but the unnecessary grief of it all is unforgivable.

I am in the process of getting mine hauled as we speak. I have been lucky so far. They have called multiple times to update me of progress and have been sending pictures each step of the way. The move is tomorrow. There are good ones out there. Here is what I have so far. 4FDF7E50-5E51-4049-A67C-653815FC7A02.jpeg925B1CB0-AA20-4B98-A5FA-321287BB3634.jpeg44091F5A-E66D-40BB-AD4F-A5FFF936CB4D.jpeg69343775-1704-4FB5-9FA5-0A3C870C230C.jpeg

I am in lake of the Ozarks now and moving to Lake Michigan. I was trying to get moved and get up the River before the lock closures but things have gotten strange for sure.
Good luck with the move. That will open up some more boating destinations for sure.

I was thinking the same thing. Looks a lot like the Riviera SUV line.
I'm a little biased, too, since I moved to a hard-top downeast style boat. Without the bridge it looks a bit like a modern take on a downeast. I like it.

We shipped our 520 from Texas to Seattle and the trucking company was horrible. I won't list out all of the issues we had, but I doubt we would ever truck a boat again.

Here's what she looks like without the bridge.

I've been searching the forums for marine transport experiences and noticed you posted nothing but praise for your move in 2017 under "Experience trucking our boat". What changed? Did you find issues after the move?
