Fusion is D.O.A

Both my Apollo’s 770 and 400 WiFi work flawlessly love the Apollo series
Havana, are you using the 770's and 400's wifi on your own network on the same boat or connecting to other boats via Partybus? The Partybus feature over wifi is what I have had trouble reliably connecting.

I haven’t tried connecting to another boat but my partybus feature works fine I have the770 on the bridge a d the 400 in the salon so I can play the same some all over the boat.
We use our own onboard network for them to talk to each other
Just remember you can’t use the partybus feature while streaming it only works with a hardwired player/ am/fm

Folks Fusion has been great to work with and without your help here I'd still be scratching my head. So, thank you all.

A new unit was shipped out to me today. I'd still love to know what was wrong with my original unit tho

Thank you for all the input. I went with the Fusion MS-RA70NSX. While I think the Apollo series would be awesome, I just couldn't justify the expense based on our listening habits. However, this has probably started me down the upgrade rabbit hole of speakers and NEMA 2000 backbone.

These units are so different to me than traditional head units, I don’t even know what features are available and what I would want to get, any insight is appreciated

Tried an Apollo 770 last year and had bad noise issues when connected to the stock wiring where the original Clarion CMD1/CD Changer was located. I like the fusion line, so I bought a new/but used MS-AV755 unit with the DVD. I placed it in the original location with the original wiring and I connected it to my Axiom 12 via a N2K network. Works like a champ. So far, a vast improvement over the Apollo unit.

One of my concerns was the distance the BT would be able to communicate, and this unit is pretty awesome. I was able to walk 100' down the dock streaming Spotify from my Samsung S10 via BT. That's good enough for me.

My one other "want" from the stereo system is to be able to listen to the TV's over the stereo systems and be able to control the inputs and volume from the head unit or my Axiom 12 at the helm. In order do that, I'll need to add a second head unit at the helm, or try the Rockford Fosgate 8BB black box unit.

Still testing...

I have RA770 and love it, has been flawless thus far. One of the reasons I got the 770 over the MS-AV755 was the app support at the time. I can use the phone app to control any of the four zones of the 770. so no need for multiple head units, only the one. I do have multiple amps now for the different zones.

Sky, whatever was wrong with my old unit was in that connection. All I did was unplug the head unit and send it back then plug in the new unit. Just saying is all

That's great that you got it replaced and all is good now. Hopefully it will get some good use this season.

Anybody have more than one Fusion unit in their system? I'm trying to decide if I can pair a remote to one head unit vs all heads on the N2K network. I know Raymarine is set up to control 3 separate head units, but not sure if that is specific to the Apollo or the older MS-RAXX units.

David, I know Havana has an Apollo and a 400 in his boat.

I should have been more specific...more than 1 non Apollo. I know this can be done with Apollo, but I could not resolve the noise issues with the MS-RA770 last year.

I was going to try a combination of the MS-AV755 and a MS-RA70NSX, with a MS-NRX300 remote. Think of this as 2 systems. System # 1 is the RA-AV755 (at the helm), and MS-NSX300 (at the transom) in a 4 zone config connected back to the Axiom at the helm. System #2 is a RA-70NSX (in the cabin) 2 Zone system connected back to the Axiom.

System #1 and #2 are separate and no control needed between them. However, both systems can be operated from the Axiom.

Here's a basic picture of what I'm thinking...

Well in case anyone is interested in the Apollo series answer
The remote will only change songs, pause, power on/off etc in partybus mode it didn’t change the volume on the Apollo 400 in the salon. I could not find a way to toggle between head units.
im thinking the same will happen with your units. David

Thanks for the intel!!

Hmmmmmm... I have been considering the Rockford Fosgate 8BB. RF and RM are more closely aligned (Fusion is Garmin). I believe that you get 4 zones and 4 independent inputs on that...ie ability to play different sources in different parts of the boat simultaneously. It about a $1k investment. Given current events, that will have to wait a while.

I’m not sure why you had such a problem with your last Fusion unit but a buddy who works for MM says a lot of the new SeaRay Rockford fosgate Head units where coming back to be replaced as they quit working. Just a heads up.

We installed the RA-770 with two of the NRX-300 NMEA2000 Fusion remotes one forward of the helm and one down below in the cockpit. I like the seamless integration and the ability to power on and control the system from any remote. Paired with Fusion Link on my Apple cell phone the system fulfills all our needs. The Aux out on head unit connects to the Solon Bose system and with the app on my cell phone via Bluetooth we can listen to anything the head unit can provide without leaving the solon.
The only down sides is from the Garmin MFD's (8616's), it seems only the volume can be changed; quite limited as I'd like full control from the MFD's also but can't seem to figure that out. And, if the sun is baking down on the head unit it will overheat and trip off line with loud pops in the speakers - that's not good. The head unit's internal amplifiers are not used but rather we have 4 JL amplifiers.
We have Sirius XM on the boat but also stream Pandora when in cell range; the partybuss feature really serves no benefit for what we use the system for.

David, have you considered just running your cabin off one head unit/amp and your cockpit off the other head unit/amp, then running one of the aux outputs from each to the other head unit? That would give you zone control and source selection at each part of the boat or everything together using the aux in. You still have an extra aux in for tv's. Using the remote is probably going to be difficult outside the axiom or in my case the garmin mfd.

I think you have full control with the 8616. I have an 840xs and under the media tab, I can control just about every function on the Apollo 770 but the Partybus/Network stuff. Zones, Sources, Audio, etc.
