48 DA Owners Club

My door always had play in the upper track, I wouldn't worry about that. Thoroughly clean the tracks. The bottom track you can drop down the Circuit breaker door so you can get to the hidden part of the track. clean that and then spray Dry Lube every month, should be good to go. Also the track has 2 parts. Base track and then the glider track that sits on top of it. Make sure that is tight and doesn't have any play. Mine did which was causing binding. I retapped a few new fasteners.

Well it has been 2 months now I have had this 48 and after weeks in the yard and the rest of the time in the slip getting everything else done my diesel mechanic called me today and told me that the 1000 hour service and all the additional work I wanted done was complete and he is ready to get her out into the ocean for a run. I am in NJ now and headed back to Ft Lauderdale Friday, so Saturday morning we are heading out to verify everything is good and ready for the 2020 season. This couldn't have come at a better time with all this stress from the COVID BS and end of the world to get my mind focused on what I love to do....GO BOATING.

These are the ones I used from Amazon. And yes, they went into the reading lights as well. The light that is produced is the same intensity and color as the factory bulbs. You can't even tell. If you want the bright white look I would use something else. I like the warm color of these for the interior.

These are the ones I used for the engine compartment. They are white light.

And these are the ones that went into the showers.

Question for those of you who have upgrades to LED lights. I purchased the above lights and am going to start the replacement in a few days. It did dawn on my the some of the interior lights are run off of the 120v AC system and some off the 12V DC system. Do the same LED bulbs work in both? Any help appreciated.

Got my carpet in today. Couldn't be happier and it feels great on the feet. Let's see how hot it gets. I said hell, might as well do the upholstery.

Tom, I went with the Corinthian Marine Aqua Mat with the aqua felt backing. https://corinthianmarine.com/aquamat/ I originally went there looking for the Infinity but they talked me into the Corinthian. I'm pretty happy with it.
Looks great, I like the choice of binding as well. What did you choose for binding? I that the one with the "hydrafelt" backing? I don't see "aquafelt".

Those work perfect, I used the same ones. All lights work off the 12v system.

Looks great Jeffery. I have been using that brand for years and it is the best IMO. I went with Solar Tan this time to try and keep it cooler on the feet. The teak look is great and is making me rethink my choice. I prefer the aqua lock backing since it rains so much here it really drains underneath nicely and no mold if I leave it down for a week or two.
What are you doing with your upholstery? I am going to get one more year out of mine as I started treating it with Formula 303 and it is softening up nicely. Can’t wait to see yours.

I'm pretty happy with the Corinthian choice. I'm just getting my upholstery re-upholstered to the same factory look. It was showing signs of wear so decided it was time. I'm not doing the helm right now as it still looks pretty good so I'll get another season out of the chairs and lounge area.

Ok, finally got to use the boat and it was great!!! Did a sea trail with the mechanic on Saturday in 3-4 foot seas dodging parked cruise ships went perfect. Then spent Sunday on the boat in the ICW with the family. So realized the factory radio set up sucks.... While I am older now and don't care about blarring music I do still want some and I want it to sound good. So where are the amp(s)? My sub doesn't even play, does something on the Clarion unit have to be turned on or is it just blown? Whats in there for stock from factory and who has done some simple upgrades and what have you done?

Amps and stereo wiring is all behind the salon TV. I upgraded my speakers to Kicker Marine and replaced the sub with a 12" kicker. Sounds decent and way better than stock.

Thanks Jeff, what size are the regular speakers? 6 1/2" or 7"? Was your sub a 12" standard? I think mine is a 10"
Grant, the cockpit area speakers are 6 1/2. The sub standard is 10" but I replaced it with a 12". There's plenty of space and you just have to cut the hole larger. I used a bunch of dynamat behind the speakers to deaden vibration and provide a better background for the sound. A great cheap upgrade and I just realized it went down like $20 in the past two weeks. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07C9214MR/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

You kept the same clairon amp? Is there a seperate amp for the sub?

Yes, I kept the amp for now. There's another small amp that's black in color that you can see in the lower right with the RCA jacks going into it. I'm not sure what it's for. I don't know if that's powering the sub. I haven't had time to dig into this but plan to soon. I wanted to get all my mechanical work out of the way and do everything outside before I started tearing into the amp situation. With this whole Corona Virus thing going on, this may be happening tomorrow since I've been sitting in the house for two days bored to death.

LOL... I feel you. I have still been traveling but supposed to go to Boston next week and that is not looking so good so might stay in home and work on this next project myself. I bet that little amp is for the interior speakers. I am planning on putting 2 pods in the anchor locker up front and I am going to disconnect the speaker wires in front stateroom since no need for them anyway (or put them on a switch). Both wires should be at the volume controller on the port side so just have to drill a hole in the anchor locker to get to them. This way I will have music on the bow. Will have to upgrade that little amp though for sure.

Yeah, I think you're right as that little amp would be too small for the sub. I'll dig into it this week sometime and verify. Any idea how to get to the speakers in the Salon? Do I have to cut through the mesh material? Any idea if that mesh speaker material in the salon comes off?
