I was wondering if was ok for the other engine and the shafts to go for 25 to 30 miles in ine engine.
I dont want to be towed and dont see the difference but thought i would see.

No issues except you need to lock out the shaft (prevent from turning) that isn't operating unless the seal is cross-over cooled.

Some setups have functions like power steering driven off only one engine. If that engine goes down so does your power steering. Check to see if that's the case for the engine that's off-line.

Redundancy is one of several advantages to twin engine boats. You should fine. Just keep your power setting reasonable, about 1500 RPMs. Use your auto pilot if you have one to minimize your work load. If you have not practiced docking on one engine, you will be surprised by how poorly the boat will handle. You will have trouble turning the boat. You will be able to turn easily in only one direction, and the rate of turn will be degraded. Know which way your boat turns with the one engine you have running and plan for that loss of function as you enter the fairway at your destination. You may want the service department to help you into a slip depending on the layout of the destination. Stay in communication with the marina when you arrive to avoid problems.

Hopefully you won't being running in open or rough conditions. I've run my 390 with one engine a few times just as an experiment. Due to the small rudders the boat will try to wander but it can be controlled. Docking will be difficult and hopefully you will have a couple of good dock hands at your destination to assist. As far as locking the shaft it is not needed if you have conventional shaft packings or dripless seals with cross over cooling hoses.

thanks to everyone for very helpful answers
