Hi all
Hope someone will give me news that hopefully is a simple fix.
Went to take son out in our 375 (340 Da) this morning and when I went to start port engine a squealing sound started like a loose belt in a car. (I’m no mechanic so excuse my wording)
My son said no water was coming out of the exhaust so we powered down straight away. I then started the starboard engine and exact same sound and issue.
the chances of BOTH engines having identical problem at same time I find weird.

I went into the engine bay and got him to start up to try trace sound (so loud I can’t be sure) but seemed like it was coming from the pulleys. However with the same sound and issue on both engines, what could it be?

is there something that both engines need that they are not getting?

1. solenoids all on
2. Found crankshaft pulley very hot after running for about 15 seconds
3. No water from exhaust on either side
4. No errors on screen on helm except for batteries on starboard but goes off after 1-3secs
5. Turned off within 10 secs as don’t want to do any damage

I believe people have said could be water pumps however both engines at same time ?

is there any fuses or things I can check?

Appreciate any help before I call in the Calvery

Are all the pulley's turning ? No water means the pump isn't spinning. Right ?

Something may have it plugged.

They r located where the valve u checked is.

Has the boat been sitting without being started for a while?

Are you sure it is both engines or are you hearing the echos in the bilge?

Belts on pulleys? Bearing?

Possible that if the sea strainer intakes are relatively close together, that there could be something underneath the boat blocking water intake on both engines. No water intake, no water out, = loud squealing noise ?

Belts squeal when a pully is not turning. Check the tensioners as well. Small pulley with a bolt head sticking out the middle of it (5/16")
bearings squeal when a device is having trouble. #1, raw water pump, #2 Alternator, #3 Belt tensioner
No water really points to your impellers, or you have picked up a big enough bag to block both raw water inlets. The only way to REALLY check the inlets is to pull the hose off the sea cock. You should have a 6" head of water pouring in when you open the sea cock. If you've never closed them, you probably won't be able to today, without a lever of some sort.

I would think one thru hull feeds both motors, but I am not certain

Hi everyone
I so appreciate all your help here.
1. checked baskets first time (only had boat 3 months) and clean and clear
2. Closed and reopened the seacocks just to loosen and watched the water back out with the basket cover off.
3. The water is quite dirty and muddy as we have had some bad storms and floods after all the fires here in Sydney Australia.

could be right with something blocking.
I don’t think there is anything else I can do for now except maybe wait for a higher tide with cleaner waters.

when I return I might bring my karcher and blow some water from the basket filter down to the seacock so if anything is there hopefully dislodge. (Water is disgusting to get into to view)

yeah I’m hoping just external block or debris which will dislodge. was out on boat two weeks ago.
Opened and closed all seacocks today just to keep them from freezing up. They were pretty good, nothing too tight.
All pulleys and belts turning. The crankshaft pulley got really hot really quick. So powered it down. I did one motor at a time so I am sure it’s happening on both.
I just find it weird both at same time so can only put it down to a blockage as stated.

is there any electronics that run the pumps or all mechanical off belt?

U maybe able to use a shop vac reversed to blow and push anything that’s in there out.

Hi
Started two weeks ago for a 80 min trip. never had this before.
we did have some storms recently and hasn’t been out since then.
Started one engine at a time so sure it’s both engines.
Appreciated

I don’t have any tools with me at moment but I still find it hard to think on both engines belt is slipping at same time.
Will check next out.
i think I’ll call it a day/weekend.

I sincerely Appreciate everyone’s help and I will let you know results when restart in a weeks time.
