Fusion is D.O.A

Carpe- if you can run the wires easily enough, that 755 Fusion has rca inputs you can use for your tv instead of trying to connect through hdmi ARC to get audio back to the 755 from the tv. I would still run your other components through the Fusion. Might be a lot less hassle than replacing the tv. But then again, tv's are cheap these days...
Sometimes you can’t see the forest for the trees! Great idea. The TV is only a couple of years old so it would be a waste to just replace for the ARC feature. Thank you!

Was looking at doing this the other day and can’t see a way to use the arc feature on the tv with the stereo. The arc is only on the tv’s hdmi which the stereo doesn’t support?

The ARC feature makes the hdmi port partially two way. The standard port functions one way from the device to the TV with video and audio. An arc port does that as well as allowing the tv to “export” audio passing it through to the device to receive it.

For example you have an AppleTV attached to hdmi 1 on the TV and the Fusion receiver to hdmi2/arc on TV. TV takes in Audio & Video from AppleTV on 1 and exports audio to by way of the arc port hdmi2 to Fusion and on to boat speakers. I will say we have this type of wiring on our home tv/dvd/AppleTV/cable box and it works flawlessly. We have the same brand tv & version AppleTV on the boat and the Fusion AV-755 sometimes stumbles in receiving the audio from the tv. I suspect the port wiring of the built in DVD player in the 755 complicates the functioning.

I guess that was my confusion, my fusion 755 doesn't have any hdmi ports. I would need the Fusion AV-755

Irie, if you are just trying to get the audio from whatever you are watching through the tv to the fusion head unit, the easiest way to do so is run an rca cable into one of the inputs. Depending on the tv, like my samsung, you have a 3.5mm output port that is marked audio out, but you can get a couple dollar adapter to turn the 3.5mm stereo cable into a stereo rca cable... hope that helps.

yup, not sure my tv has the output jack but will check. Thought i was missing something on my stereo but seems i don't have the AV model.

Irie, I haven't seen a flat panel yet that doesn't have at least one type of audio output and most have more than one. There are really three kinds you might have, 3.5mm plug (looks like what you would plug headphones into) RCA's (red and white marked "out") and optical audio out (looks like a little square port with a red cover) Depending on your fusion model some have a direct connection for optical but if that is your last resort, you can get an optical converter cheap and the cables are cheap too. Let us know what model tv you have and I'd be happy to recommend something easy.

Or, for better audio quality, reduced interference, eliminate ground loop issues, and to minimize sync issues, use the digital optical out on the TV and connect to the digital optical in on the Fusion. Use a quality Toslink Optical cable; they are inexpensive.

If Irie has the ms-ud755 (non av model, which is ms-av755) it doesn't have an toslink optical input, that's why I recommended the rca's or a converter. Agree Tosink is second to hdmi.

Yup, no optical input on the ms-ud755. TV does have the 3.5mm jack though. May go that route but low on the list of todo's. Thanks all.

Huh? Just look at the pic you posted

The AV 755 has two RCA audio inputs tagged AUX1 input and AUX 2 input on the octopus on the back. I would imagine they are also on the the UD.

No worries, like i said its low on the list but now i know a quick workaround.

Thanks

Im in the process of changing out my stereo head unit to a Fusion. My dilemma is get one that is NMEA compliant or has wifi. Have been looking at the 70N. Whats the consensus on Wifi. Is it must have?

I am loving my AV755 using only Bluetooth from IPhone 8 and have no connectivity issues at all for about 75 feet down the dock even.

With Jims help I sent my RA770 back last week. I did everything they asked me to do, updates and all. The updates fixed many issues but still no sound.

Jim thank you for your help finding the receipt. Fusion tech support and Garmin have been great to work with so far.

If they tell me what's wrong with the unit I will update again later

I had a msra-70N and it worked great, nmea2000 as well as wireless but through Bluetooth. I upgraded to the 770 Apollo and it has great features but the wifi is wonky for sure. Not sure it was worth the money. 70N was a home run.
