Hello Friends,

I own a 2008 Dancer 290, and the water pressure in the galley sink is extremely low. Water in the head sink & toilet is fine, and water in the wet bar on deck is also very strong. Any ideas what could be wrong? Is there a boost pump that could be wired on the DC circuit that could boost the pressure?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Jeff

Could be as simple as the screen in the spiket it’s self. Had to clean some my self. Just soak them in CLR or what ever it’s called.

The pump isn't the problem. Adding another pump is not the solution. Think about it... your other faucets are working properly so that means the pump is good. The part of the system that ISN'T working is the galley faucet - that's where you should focus your attention. The most common thing is an aerator being clogged up. Start with that - remove it/clean it.

It's pretty common for the faucet aerator to get clogged. Over the years I've found a variety of debris: bits of sand, grit, and slimy stuff that's clogged the very fine mesh of the aerator. I took to removing and cleaning the aerators when recommissioning the system in the spring.

Note that the aerators have more parts than you might expect, and they can seem to fit back together in more than one way. Be sure to carefully examine how it comes apart so it goes back together properly.

Also it seems that invariably when you think you have all the parts out, there will be some that remain inside the faucet. Turning on the water will blast the parts out and ricochet them around the cabin, leading to a gnashing of teeth and a curse-filled scavenger hunt. Check for parts, turn the water on slowly, and cup your hand over the faucet when you do.

As others have said, most likey the aerator. I kept a small adjustable wrench in the medicine cabinet that was just the right size for unscrewing the aerator for cleaning the screens. This was the faucet that clogged on our boat. The part needs to be a little tighter than hand tight to avoid leaking through the threads, but not too tight.

What kind of faucet do you have in the galley?

With or w/o pull out handle?

As others have said it's probably the aerator screen clogged up with deposits.

If it has a pull out handle it could be a pinched/kinked hose.

Good luck. These little niggles can be frustrating.

Just as rule of thumb....check each faucet, shower head and pump filter screens.I did this at first sign things might be slowing down with the pressure.

If it does not get better after cleaning the aerator you will need to change the faucet. The faucets have very small passage ways that get clogged and you will not be able to clear them. Had the exact same issue and replaced the unit with no problems. It is actually a pretty easy process .
