Pet peeve (handicap parking)

Yep. I park further away for 1) the extra walking won't hurt me and 2) I don't want some num-nuts dinging my vehicles.

When my step-dad was alive he was handicapped and had a very difficult time walking. It used to really p!ss him off when he'd have to park further out in a lot because some numb nuts without a handicap placard or plate parked in a handicap spot.

He had some ~5"x7" peel and stick signs made up. You know the kind where the front is paper and when you try to peel it off it just shreds? He had a bunch made in bright orange that said (paraphrasing):
You parked in a handicap spot without a sticker so I had to walk a lot further to get to the store. Here's your award. Have fun getting it off.

He'd stick them right in front of the driver's line of sight and quietly walk away.

Have to share an incident from last month. Was in the gym and there was a guy in there that was obviously showing off. He made a point to perform multiple "difficult" sets of lunges across the gym while huffing a puffing loudly enough to get everyone's attention. Then he performed some pseudo-gymnastic type movements probably designed to show everyone how athletic he was.

I finally ignored him and finished my workout. On the way out I see "Mr Athletic" getting into a car with handicap placard parked in handicap space. What an A Hole.

Guess when I’m buying my brisket I shouldn’t be parking here then. :)

I will admit that I have put a bumper sticker on someone’s door because they clearly did not need to park in a handicap spot.

Definitely not 'friends'...lol. Her mother worked in HR and was partially responsible for getting me fired when I got hurt at work. But I see them around all the time.

I was never a scofflaw but had wondered what the big deal was when people complained... until I had gotten peripheral neuropathy as a result of chemo therapy. It affected my balance and my endurance - some days I feel great and park out a ways and leave the space for someone who needs it more. Other days I can hardly walk and I am glad that I have a temporary placard. And I get frustrated at people who ignore the signs...
