420 DA Thread

I need some help with the Master head.

The vacuflush is now popping the breaker - I think the motor on the vacuum pump is shot - along with pretty much all of the seals (its getting a pressure leak). I can't seem to find any model numbers, stickers, etc on the unit. .. does anyone know what the model is? I'd like to look at replacing the correct parts on it - but can't seem to find anything.

Can anyone offer any advice on how to replace the generator zinc.I tried and it impossible to get in the tight space where it is located. Thanks

Two options: Remove the small hatch on port side, and hang upside down. Or, lay a packing blanket across the tops of the batteries then slip down there, again with the small hatch removed. You can also take out the cross member to further improve access. When I bought my boat, the previous owner had taken the nuts off the the bolts so its easy to remove. I have left it that way for ease of access.

Thanks I will give it a try

Exactly what I do too...take out the cross member. Make sure you bring your tools down with you or you will be very sad . I leave the bolts out of the cross member too. It never moves and is fully supportive without bolting it in.

What is the procedure to clear a fault code on Smart craft vessel view.

Has anyone installed a WiFi booster? Looked at the Wave Rogue system but it is WAY complicated. Any thoughts would be appreciated

Last week I was at the boat. When I opened the door to aft head I heard a snap and the handle became loose. I think a spring must have broken inside the mechanism. I think this is a Mobella unit. Anyone have to replace one of these? What source? Can you get just the 'guts' rather than the whole unit?

Two things Flounder Pounder had the guts a few years ago when I replaced the master mechanism. The other is if the spring broke at the very end like it did on mine you can bend a small hook on the end of the spring and reconnect...consider heating it up as it’s spring steel

I found receipt - It was Flounder Pounder and this is what receipt said for the internal parts I Please verify it's the right parts as we are a year apart.

Hey all again... been cruising while new (to us) 420 Sundancer has been getting some repairs to it (from the survey). Our boat is now at the slip and we "pick up the keys" on Saturday! Finally!

Looking for suggestions for the following:

[1] Cockpit oval sink needs to be replaced. Found the part number but having issues finding the part. Thinking a stainless steel replacement may be in order. Anyone replaced this and if so, any recommendations for providers of the sink?
[2] Noticed a little mold under the master stateroom mattress. We don't want to replace this right now, but wondering if there is a recommended cleaning solution to remove what is there.
[3] We are renaming our boat, and need to remove the current name from the transom. Any recommendations on best method for this? It's vinyl (we think), and was recently (maybe 2 years) attached.
added [4] We want to replace the anchor. Freshwater (Lake Texoma) boat, 45' LOA. Looking for chrome. Suggestions?

I appreciate any and all advice.

James

Welcome James. Are you putting it on Lake Lewisville? If so, which marina? We live on that lake and were in Eagle Point Marina for 20 years.

Regarding #2 I've ised Star Brite Mildew and Stain remover from Walmart
Regarding #3 if it is vinyl then simply use a heat gun and soften it up a bit and it'll peel right off. You'll then want to use some goo-be-gone spray to get the glue off. At this point I usually use an abrasive polish/compound to polish the entire transom to eliminate the 'ghosting' of the old name on the gelcoat. Once that's done I'd apply the new name and wax the area.

We will be keeping her on Lake Texoma at Little Mineral Marina.

Perfect. I'll see how easy it is when we get there on Saturday.

Welcome to Texoma. We're in Highport Marina Boathouse ZM. Name of our boat is The Other Woman. What will yours be?

Yes, that's the cleaner I used. Worked for me but can't say there are or aren't better ones out there.

Does anyone have a source for a replacement bow pad or is it an item you would take to a local canvas shop and have them duplicate it?

Best done locally, even if they charged slightly more than someone else remote the shipping charges would probably out weigh the savings.
