Couldnt find much info using search feature. What should I look for before buying this boat for $13,500, has been run for 20+ hrs/yr last three years. 5.7L EFI Mercurser with alpha 1 Drive. Any known issues, weak spots? Thanks much.

Gene, unless you're independently wealthy and can afford to throw lots of money at the boat after you have bought it I would recommend hiring a competent surveyor to do a thorough survey on the boat.

He will look at the engines, do compression tests, check the transmissions, check the hull for moisture intrusion, check all of the electronics, gauges, switches, etc. He is your advocate in the purchase and will find most of the things that need attention.

Basically, he is there to keep you from buying a pig.

If you google NAMS Surveyors or SAMS Surveyors (both are surveyor accreditation agencies) you will find one in your area. It will be money well spent. I would expect the cost would be a couple hundred to a few hundred dollars but it will be money well spent.

Ok, Thanks for that GFC. Waiting to hear back from a surveyor. Anyone else who is familiar with this boat/engine set up aware of known issues? Anything specific to look for with this engine/outdrive combo?

Thanks again for any input.
