signs of spring

How about this one: It's nearing the end of January, we're tucked way up in the NW corner of the US, and it's going to be 55* today.

Just made camping reservations at Muskegon State Park. That campground is very popular. I had to sit at my computer, wait until 8:00 A.M. and make my reservation exactly 180 days in advance. I’ve been going there off and on since the 70’s. This year will be 9 out of the last 10. Missed because we went to Lake Cumberland, Kentucky.

Definitely more competition for camp sites because they are not letting you reserve the Muskegon Channel campground sites. 139 camp sites.
“Due to recent flooding and the continued rising Great Lakes water levels, the Channel campground will not be open to reservations in 2020. If the flooding subsides next spring and the condition of the campground and its facilities are acceptable and safe for use, the campground will be opened at that time for local sale only. Once the impacts of flooding have subsided, the public will be notified that the campground will be opened back up to reservations.”

Here's another sign--next weekend it's going to be 66*. That's just CRAZY. It's January/February for crying out loud.

But I like it better than snow.

Here's another sign getting the liquid gold ready

Farmers Almanac has nailed this winter like the always do and for our region this spring they're reporting for the months of April and May dry and warmer then the normal. If this happens it will be the first boaters spring in 4 years. Maybe I will not need my heater this spring.

Not much of a winter here in NC - very wet, but not much cold weather. Supposed to be in the 60's today, heading to the boat to take a look for the first time since November. Marina opens back up March 1st, I usually don't get going until closer to April - some of our worst winter weather can come in March, but I don't see it this year.

The past 2 years we were buried in snow and near freezing temps. This year, no snow to speak of and much warmer temps. Today's supposed to be 48* but it's only 10:30 and it's already 47*. I'm betting we'll get into the 50's. Time to do some yard work.

Was out at the boatyard (AHC) to check on the boat and man the water looks high. I was only able to check it out on the North Channel portion.
Going to be an interesting season for sure. The water levels are going to dictate where we go, as flooded docks will be a concern. Not only the dock, but at a few places last year (Metro), where there are fixed docks, the pilings were below my rub rail, so I had to be very careful when docking.

After a wicked cold Friday/Saturday, it hit 49 here today. No measurable snow so far this winter and the seven day forecast ain’t bad.
Shrinkwrap will come off around St. Patrick’s day and the prep will begin.
Targeting first week of April for splash again this year.

Or umbrella! Amazing that it's almost the end of February and the ice I've seen is just along the shoreline. A warmer than normal spring could help with the water levels.

I can't complain about the winter we've had around here either. Warmer than usual and not much snow. I sure hope we get a boaters spring. It seems like we haven't had one in forever.
It's going to be close to 50 here tomorrow so I think we're gonna go by the marina to check on Bottoms Up and maybe grab lunch on the water. I haven't seen her since November. She don't look near as pretty all covered up in shrink.

22deg here in Charlotte this morning - coldest night so far this winter. We had snow on Thursday - not what most of you would call snow, but a bunch of white stuff fell out of the sky and we all freaked out, and closed schools. Supposed to be back close to 60 today. Marina opens back up next weekend!

We ended up going to check on the boat today instead of tomorrow. Spring must be getting close. People at the marina were already swimming. :D:eek::D:eek: I think I'm going to wait a little longer before I jump.

We're having the warmest February I can remember. It's been in the 50's for a week or so. Colder (20's) at night but warms up nicely during the day. Trees are starting to bud, a neighbor's crocuses are blooming. Odd.

Just ordered new cockpit weave from Corinthian.... CSR 15% discount. good deal. ...signed our summer slip contract and our marina just posted this photo.... PIB is just beyond the house...top center....our boat is lower right.... Cleaning the garage floor today... Spring is here

We were at the marina last night for their vendors/open house. Really got the bug now. Fighting back the urge to get the razor knife out and start unwrapping.
