hey everyone
Has anyone done the cruise from Lake Ontario to New York City

We have done several trips to and from NYC from Buffalo and several from Buffalo to Lake Ontario via Oswego and Welland Canals. I would be glad to answer any questions you may have if I can.
Welcome to CSR.

I live in the area of NYC.... And would love to hear the details....

Siboatguy, There are a lot of details. If you have specific questions about the canals, conditions or some of the towns, I will answer if I can. If you would just like to hear about our adventures, I will lead you to the admirals blog site. The entries listed below would cover 3 passages of the Canals and Hudson to NYC or vise versa. The fastest we have ever done it was 6 days (we had jobs then) when we purchased a boat several years ago and moved it to Buffalo from Connecticut. Forced marches are not much fun in our opinion, and we prefer to move at a relaxed pace. 4 weeks would be great to visit most of the canal towns and interesting spots along the Hudson, but that is impractical for most. Having visited most places through various trips over the years, we now cover the distance from NYC to Lake Ontario in about 12 to 14 days. A nice pace for retired folks like us. You will notice that the different trips have some of the same canal towns visited, that's because they rank as some of our favorites. The reasons might be because of certain restaurants, free laundry, craft breweries or we just like it there.

Start with the last entry of June '17 "not in a million years" which should come up when you click the link above, and all the entries of July'17.
Also September and October entries of 2018
May and June entries of 2019
If viewing the blog through the link above on a mobile device, click on “view web version” at the bottom to see index of entries and full blog.
Those were our most recent trips from the loop and a trip south for a winter.

Great stories, we plan on doing the loop from Kingston in a couple years when work is done!
