My Bilge Vent is damaged and I have found a replacement on E Bay.
It will have to be painted.
Does anyone have experience painting plastic?
It is advertised as new so will be painting over plastic.
I would assume light sanding to roughen the surface, primer then paint.
Worried about the pain not adhering.

I use Rust-Oleum Specialty Plastic. It's for spraying direct on plastic, and doesn't require a primer.

I've used both Krylon and Rustoleum's paint for plastic with excellent results. Nothing special to do - just make sure it's clean.

When I replaced on of the vents on our 280 the fiberglass guy used our matching gelcoat. That was easily five years ago and it still looks perfect.

I've used Krylon to paint a plastic foghorn/hailer speaker that had yellowed from uv exposure. It worked well and lasted for years. Make sure the can label says the product is safe to use on plastic and follow the directions on the spray can.
