Does anyone have a source for a replacement of the forward plastic sump box for a 420 AFT Cabin? Sea Ray dealer wanted $750.00 for just the box....not kidding. That did not include the float, pump, fittings etc. I cannot be the only one needing one at reasonable price. Thanks

Bad on me, link deleted. Sump boxes are relatively simple to repair/replace. I', sure BOE can point you in the right direction.

That particular box is most likely no longer available. However, it doesn't always mean it's not available through other sources if the manufacturer still makes it. But it's "NLA" through Sea Ray. So... that price could be a special aquisition through Sea Ray to get it... or it could be a "I really don't want to deal with this, but if you want to pay this amount I'll figure it out" by the dealer.

However, if you contact Sea Ray (or look on the box for markings) you may be able to find out who the manufacturer is and get in touch with them to see if it's really still available/made or not.

On the other hand, you could look into fixing it... or, there's no reason you couldn't adapt a newer/readily available box to work.

What’s it look like? Lots of good options on amazon. I just went for a new 800 rule with pump and switch for around $120. Nice clear snap on lid vs the old with screws so it should be easy to clean. Wish I did it long ago, 20 years of grime added up

Thanks guys for the replies but just as an FYI for the future. The 42 aft cabin sump box is very large because of the washer/dryer needs and the way it sits in the holding compartment, so the ones I looked at on Amazon are to small to handle the volume intake. It appears after a lot of research the only fix is what one member said and that is to fix the old one which is what I am doing. To bad someone is not making these at a reasonable price as other 42 owners will need them down the road. Thanks again for your input.

Maybe these guys can help. https://www.whalepumps.com/marine/p..._ID=10046&FriendlyID=Whale-Shower-Sump-System

If you don't see what you need, give them a call.

Hopefully you can fix it easily enough. In the end, it's just a box - and it really makes no difference what your repair looks like as long as it doesn't leak. Heck, you could make your own box if you wanted to... could be as simple as making it from wood (epoxy coated to be waterproof) or even a Rubbermaid container. Lot's of options.

If you decide to look for a new one, in addition to Whale, Attwood and Rule (Xylem) make boxes - see if they make a larger one. Or, try googling for "large" shower sump box (there are other manufacturer's, too).
