Hi, getting to know my boat and ironing out a few issues. 340/365 Sundancer year 2001.

Regarding 'Buzzer' on engine start. When I turn on Ignition rocker switches and master ignition keys I do not hear a buzzer.

On starting the Port engine I hear 2 buzzer beeps but no sound on starting the Starboard engine. Is this correct?

I presume the buzzer should also sound for engine malfunctions when running so I need to ensure it works correctly. Also the alarm monitor panel does not appear to work, no lights, no response to test. The old boat shaped one with lights.

As a matter of interest why is there rocker switches and master keys? What do each do and why not just master keys?

Thanks in advance from you experienced guys.

Not sure exactly how the 2001 is configured, but our 2006 works as below. There are three switches that need to be activated for an engine to start. In your electrical panel you have a breaker and a key switch for each engine. When activating the breaker and the key switch you should hear nothing more than the switch moving to the on position. No whistles or bells so to speak. Up on the helm you should have the port and stbd switches along with an emergency crossover. When moving either of the engine switches to the on position you should get 1 beep and after that beep, nothing at which time you can continue to start the engine. Two beeps usually mean there is a fault somewhere that needs attention. Sometimes it will continue to beep after the respective engine is started and sometimes not. Depends on the fault. I know the 5 year difference in model years probably means the 2001 may be different, but this gives you a little info that may help.
Welcome to CSR and best of luck.

On my 2004, like Korkie said, I have "key" switches in the electrical panel, that I turn on first. At the helm, after moving an ignition switch to the "ON" position, I get a continuous "tone/beep". If you look at the Sea Ray monitor (ignition switch ON, but engine not started yet) it will indicate "Oil Pressure LOW". That tone or beep is actually the lo oil pressure alarm. After starting the engine, it continues to "beep" until the oil pressure builds up to appropriate level.

Thanks for the replies, good information and now fully understand.

So I have two issues.

1. Port engine 2 beeps. If this is an error, how do I find out the error. The old style monitor panel is non-op and I have been told no longer available.

2. Starboard engine no beeps. Is there a separate buzzer for both engines (x2) or do they share the same single buzzer? Is the buzzer driven from the defunct monitor panel.

Engines run ok. Buzzer stops when engine is started. No oil pressure or overheat issues.

{Edit} {Update}

I took off the dash switch panel and found 2 buzzers connected to an IPX System Monitor Box.

Tried to trace the buzzer wires but were well wrapped in to the looms. Removed the monitor control panel that was unresponsive previously. Replaced panel and hey-ho it started working. Beep on both engines, lights on monitor panel all work on test and oil pressure lights before engine is started as expected. So I must have disturbed something in the wiring. But well pleased!

But I am still getting 2 beeps from the IPX system in addition to the single beep for the port engine. Not sure what this indicates??
