Who has wood floors in there cabin?

Hope to mine soon.

I have some 3/4" x 2" unfinished oak left over from another job... is that too thick to use?
Our boat had 3/4" teak and holly floors. No issues but Tiara designs all of the case work with this flooring mind. You will need to look at how doors swing and cabinet doors sit in relation to the floors. If you have enough clearance and great carpentry skills, 3/4" flooring makes an impressive statement. With modern poly finishes it continues to look like new years after it is installed. No issues with slipping.

We have polyurethaned teak and holly flooring throughout the cabin and state rooms and oiled teak on the helm deck and cockpit. The teak & holly by itself is not slippery, any kind of carpet on it that does not have a rubberized pad, or backing, is slicker than s—t. Carpetless floors on a boat are so much easier to keep clean.

As far as construction is concerned you really want some kind of engineered product like plywood rather than solid wood because of moisture issues. Engineered products will still absorb moisture but movement is controlled.
