Can anyone tell me how to remove the ceiling light covers in the salon. I do not
Want to break them. Going to order LED’s for them.
Alnav great idea with the snaps on the ceiling .
There are two types in the ceiling. Both can be easily taken off and are hard to damage with a little care. The ones that are flush are held up by springs, a small flathead is a good tool to get them started; once you do the mechanism should be obvious. Be careful once you see where the springs are that you keep your fingers from getting in the way, they can really smart from my painful experience. The non-flush fixtures just need to be twisted a bit then will come off.

Just very carefully, with your fingers, pry the assembly down. They are called “David” lights, made in Italy, they are held in by 2 spring loaded wings on the side. I had to replace one, found a almost exact copy on e bay for around 35.00. I swapped it with the one in the galley and put that one in the salon.

Cosmo, my steering pump is in the wheel assembly at the helm, I assumed the 390's have the same Seastar system. There also may be an electric pump for the autopilot if you have one, mine is in the compartment behind the aft bulkhead of the master head.
Steering fluid is typically checked and re-filled starting at the helm. If you have a helm pump there will be a filling port at the base of the steering column, it's a small round cap that unscrews. You may want to get a bottle of Seastar fluid and importantly, a filler tube, before you get started. You can refill using these if the fluid is low but you probably need to purge the system of air, typically a two-person job with one at the helm and one standing by the ram, which you probably saw if you pulled up the master mattress to look in the aft bilge. There are several YouTube videos that may help (Google "Seastar hydraulic helm fluid") and there is also info on the Seastar web site.

Thanks, Al!

I already have the Seastar fluid

I googled a video on topping off, and it was just as you said. You put the fluid in the at the steering wheel. The video said nothing about a reservoir (it wasn't even a Sea Ray boat, though). But the 390 manual still mentions that there is a reservoir, and to top it off there (see attached image). I don't see it anywhere, though.

Cosmo, there is similar verbiage in my manual about a reservoir. But, I haven't seen one in the aft bilge and can't find any reference to one in the Sea Ray parts guide for the model. I have only needed to recharge and purge my system once and was able to do all the filling from the helm oil fill fitting.

Bought our 2005 390 in Hampton, VA in July and ran her up the Chesapeake, down the Delaware and up the Jersey coast to W. 79th St Boat Basin in NYC. We are year round liveaboards and will occasionally charter Coda http://all-nyc-yachts.com/Codarates.html We too had the Raymarine die halfway through the delivery trip. Used Navionics on smartphone for rest of trip.

I was wondering same thing. Really would like to upgrade mine to LED throughout but seemed fixed. Could not remove them with significant pressure. What are you prying from? I have an 04

Looking at two different setups to tow a
PWC behind my 390MY. One is the magic
Tow that requires drilling into the swim platform where water tank is, the other is called a towdster. It just attaches to the rear cleats on each side.
Does anyone have any experience with either of these or recommendations on
Anything else available.

Wondering If I can create of list of how many 390 MY with 480 CE that had exhaust valve seat failure. Has anyone filed a claim for insurance for it under defect? Has Cummins kicked in to help out ?

Both heads on our 2005 were replaced by the prior owner. One was done under warrenty and second one was done as preventative maintenance.

Got one of the fixtures out, not that bad.
My next question is what would the thoughts on the LED bulbs. 10watt, what shade or brightness of bulb o replace with.
I counted 19 or 20 in the interior ceiling.
Thanks

I can't answer on the wattage, but can share my experience on the the color. My understanding is the color or shade of a CFL or LED is measured using the Kelvin scale, and I usually aim for something in the 4k range which is a cool white. I find anything lower starts to get yellowish, and anything higher starts to get a blue hue.

I did replace mine five years ago. I was able to find the receipt; I used bulbs from Marinebeam.com. The ceiling lights were BP-G4-10X-WW, description 10-LED SMD Power Cluster Back Pin X-Beam, Warm White, ~4K and about 120 lumens. The reading lights in the staterooms were BP-G4-FT, Description 12-LED SMD Back-Pin Force 12, Warm White, also ~4K, about 180 lumens. Both types draw about 1.5 watts. The result is much brighter than the original halogens.
Marinebeam is still around but is somewhat pricey compared to what you can find on Amazon. They used to give a 10% discount to CSR members. When I bought, there were concerns about using LEDs not built for the marine environment, not sure if that is the case these days.

I assume these fit the fixtures without
Modification. I am talking about the ceiling lights. Have one out and it’s just
A 2 pin bulb, that number you have brings up a disk type 2 pin bulb. Not sure that will fit in funnel type reflector in the lamp housing.

The disks will fit, they just need to be pressed up into the fixture. I believe the disk design is the only way to get enough LED's in the fixture to replace the light from a bulb.

Thank you for the help sir. Going to order them. Should be big improvement.
