40 sedan bridge forum

Hi guys,
Finally pulled the trigger on a 2002 400DB. Unfortunately, I’m in Canada and it was hauled right after the sea trial so I have to wait until spring to really get to enjoy it. I will tell you that I have read all 212 pages of threads and comments and have learned more about my boat that I would have picked up anywhere else. Thanks to all who take the time to post...I’m sure I’ll be tapping into that wealth of experience once I get some time to play with my new toy!

Pics, or it didn't happen.

Congrats! And rest assured, you aren't the only one to wade through 213 pages of posts. I did it last spring while buying my 400. Although it was quite a bit shorter then... lol. I've already forgotten most of what I read. But just this week I was searching for the bulb sizes for the bilge lights (spoiler alert: 1141 bulb with the BA15s base).

This thread is my Go To for everything about the 400. So much so that sometimes I forget there's a CSR thread in the Engine forum for the Cummins 6CTA engines, audio tips in the Audio forum, etc. Shoot, I think we all learned how to change duck bills from Bugaboo's YouTube videos - and those were done on a 380DA, if I recall? This discussion is amazing and the people are the best. But don't forget about the rest of CSR, either. Sea Rays have a lot of commonality that you can learn a lot from the threads of similar sized Sundancers and other models with your same engines.

WELCOME JON! YOu hare going to make a bunch of great memories on board I am sure!

On to business- Anyone replace the Window shade above the master? Everything works but the shade itself is getting scraggly. Is there parts or just replace the whole thing? and if so anyone know/recommend one?

NEWB question. I think I want to drain my mufflers for winter storage.
Where is the drain screw located? Has anyone seen a good diagram or taken a picture?
I have the 8.3 Cummins Diesel. Thanks.

Not sure if the diesel boats have different muffler cans or not. My gas engines have a drain at the bottom of each can. Pics attached

Thanks. I know what I am looking for now at least.
I'll circle back for the others after I dig through my engine compartment this weekend..... again...

My 2004 has them. They're at the base of the cans facing forward.
Don't think I have ever seen a muffler without them?

Welcome and congrats!

Welcome Jon/ I've spent some great times with my friend John Mara in Oakville. He has a Princess 45 and is a member of PCYC. Beautiful place - in the summer!!!

For those of you that use engine room heaters, where do you acquire power? I have a bilge heater from West Marine that runs off of AC. Is there an AC outlet in the engine room? This would be a ridiculous question for a gasoline powered boat, but mine is diesel. I can always run a cord up to the battery switch compartment where there is an outlet. But it would be a lot easier if there was one in the engine room.

no AC outlet in the er. I had a blank space on the ac side of the panel so I installed a dedicated outlet for my pan heaters. I was going to hardwire them but glad I didn’t, I use those outlets quite often for drop lights, tools etc.
Pretty easy afternoon project.

Mine are hard wired into my AC breaker panel in the salon.

Yeah, my boat doesn’t have them pre installed. I’ll have to look at the circuit diagram to see where a good place to tap into for an outlet would be. I added a GFCI in my old 320, so this isn’t new territory for me. Fortunately, there should be an easy drop from the panel directly into the ER.

If your boat is wired like mine, line 2 has consistently less draw and I think there is an open breaker space in the panel under line 2.

Just about everything to the ER drops behind the ice maker.
