My favorite part of boating.

My favorite part of boating is waking in the morning for coffee,(if the fishermen don't wake us up flying by on plane at 90mph in an idle zone at 5am), and pulling anchor idle over to the marina for a full breakfast. But, I admit I get butterflies when I look at the lake and see glass as I'm coming out of the idle zone.

One of my favorite parts of boating was being on the hook and firing up the Magma grill late afternoon. Since we live in a condo a grill is not allowed and on the boat it surely is.My wife is a fantastic cook so with the multiple burner stove in the galley and me on the grill cooking anything from lobster to London broil to ( jiffy pop ) I was one happy camper.
Any one hungry yet?

Any stress I have when I get to the boat is eliminated as soon as the 496 fires up. Getting out of the no wake and pushing the throttle to the stop to get on plane brings the opposite of stress: Euphoria. Also love being on the hook and hanging with family and friends. Taking a long boat ride is also very relaxing. I hate winter, I want to move south.

So what’s you secret to catching trout?
Here's a list.
1 Boat
12 Rods and Reels
100 multiple color and sized Spoons
20 multiple sized stick baits
20 snubbers swivels, fluorocarbon line etc
15 Dipsy Divers
1 Expensive Garmin Chartplotter
1 Collapsable net
1 drift bag (slow down to 1.5-2.5mph)
5 rod holders
200 gallons of fuel
60 hours of time
......and you'll finally catch one trout:D
I believe I've gotten my cost down to about $432.89 per fish
It's an awful habit. Oh, and out of all of those spoons, always use the same half dozen or so, don't try any new ones you've purchased over the wintertime.

I do okay. I usually fish during the Summer between 30'-100' of water. I'm not going to catch any salmon at those depths but I catch trout. If its just me, I'll set three lines at different depths. One at 15, one at 25, then maybe one close to the bottom. Always changing color. Once I get a hit, I mark it and set the depth with all others. Sometimes I'm out all day and will only catch one. Sometimes I limit out in a couple of hours. As long as there's a sometimes, I'm happy.

I have all that stuff...and more. I finally decided it wasn't worth the 200 gallons so I moved some of the fishing stuff from the cruiser to a smaller craft. I probably fish about as much and the 24 gallon fuel tank lasts all year.

Still catch a few as well.
Any time I step on either boat is my utopia. It's like entering another dimension for me. If I have to pick a favorite part of all that, it's navigating a planned route across a calm lake.

I’m thinking I’ll just stop at the sea food market on the way to the apostles.

My oldest son and I went on a father/son fishing trip with a friend of mine and his oldest son the weekend before Thanksgiving. We hired a guide on Lake Taneycomo which is at the base of Table Rock dam (World famous for trout. There is a trout hatchery at the base of the dam, one of several operated by the state of Missouri). 4 hours and $400 later we had our limit of 16 fish. No monster browns unfortunately, but nice sized rainbows. It was a cold, but fun day.

That sounds fantastic!
The pic I have is of a brown.

I love all boating but one of my favorite times is an evening cocktail cruise when the sun is not so hot with good music and friends. Right about that 7PM summertime just slow cruising, with the NAV lights on but not totally dark out yet and back in slip by darkness... I love that!

I am with you there. Love a good sunset cruise!

My last trip, my daughters (19 and 23) spent 30 minutes making an all Taylor Swift playlist (methodically went through each album picking their favorites from each) then spent the next 2 hours and 5 minutes playing, and singing, and dancing to, the entire thing. It was awesome. Then, we putted back the dock to catch the sunset and then the lights on the bridge, and the water was nice and smooth, almost lake like!
Worth every damn penny...

Love this pic
Our daughter just turned 23, got her masters in may, and still loves to come boating as much as she can, alternates between bringing her friends or boyfriend. I am confident I have passed the love of boating on to my daughter and her future family
