2nd Admendment Sanctuary?

What if I already own a gun that is a copy or duplicate?
If a weapon is a copy or duplicate of one of the models enumerated in the law, it is an Assault Weapon. The Enforcement notice will not be applied to possession, ownership or transfer by an individual gun owner of weapons obtained on or before July 20, 2016.

The AGO also will not enforce the law against a gun dealer that possesses or transfers a “copy or duplicate” weapon that was obtained on or before July 20, 2016, provided that transfers, if any, are made to persons or businesses in states where ownership of the weapon is legal.

Loop hole here.

Yes, you can own a pre-ban existing rifle if it was in Massachusetts prior to 1994, or sold in the period between the end of the federal ban and Maura’s enforcement notice in 2016. You can not buy a new one, nor can you build a new one, nor can you own a new one. Considering the penalty for doing the previous is a felony, I’d say it qualifies as a Ban.

Here is the situation as I see it - In the US, our rights and the basis of our rights regardless of the topic are a big solid rock. There are those with great power, elected and not, that work through their concept of right and wrong to take a little chip off the rock then another chip and another. Before we know it that big solid rock is not so big and we still believe it is a big solid rock; humans have such short memories. Be aware of what it was, what it is, and what it may be.

And I thought I held the title of “World’s Biggest Pessimist”

Chicago is another city with a horrendous murder rate and strict gun laws. I wonder if the decline in the murder rate is because they are running out of people or is it because of the recently fired sleepy Police Chief https://heyjackass.com/category/chicago-crime-2019/

I like Trump and he has done a lot to lower the unemployment rate, especially among minorities and women. Here's the chart of the unemployment for the past 10 years.

I've noticed several loopholes in the laws VA wants to put into place, the largest is concerning the CCP. It's a mess

The clown show in Virginia starts with the 2020 Legislative Session. Probably more than 3,000 bills will be considered by the various committees and a few hundred will find their way to a vote. 27 years ago when the dems ruled the Statehouse....their first Legislative Session raised taxes across the board and funded a number of really bad ideas. They lost the Governor and Senate 24 months later.

I see them making the same mistakes now as they open up Pandora's box. I expect they will pass a number of really stupid and onerous things which will then be challenged in the Court system. Gun laws are only a small part of the insanity.

24 months from now.....Virginia voters will have another chance to kick these folks to the curb.

We in WA are blessed to have the country's Biggest Loser, measured by the fact that he was the first one to drop out of the presidential race in the large flock of dumbocrats that are running for that office. That Biggest Loser is our governor, Jay Inslee. What is the count down to now, a hundred or so dumbocrats still running?

We can't kick our dumbocrats to the curb because there are 3 counties along the I-5 corridor that are notoriously liberal. King, Pierce and Snohomish counties have enough population that they basically control the state elections.

WA passes many left leaning laws that are passed because of the heavily dumbocart population. Laws have passed that have been voted down in the vast majority of the state's counties but pass because of those 3 counties favoring them.

So we on the east side of the state have almost zero chance of passing any sensible laws. One that did recently pass was Initiative 976 that reduced car tab fees to $30. It took away the right of local jurisdictions to add fees to license registration. (My BMW fees last time were $80 as an example).

Initiative 976 passed but then almost instantly the city of Seattle, King County and a few others filed suit to stop the law.

So even when enough voters in the state pass a law (by a 60% vote) if the dumbocrats on the I-5 corridor don't like it they will sue to counter the state's popular vote.

Go figure.

Sounds like the problem we have in NY where the tail wags the dog. The densely populated NYC basically calls the shots for the whole state.
I was born, raised there then worked and lived there most of my life.
It’s pretty much always been a Dem stronghold, but the Dem’s were different years ago. Mostly blue collar working class. Not many of those left though. They got priced out years ago.
Now it’s filled with the new Dem’s. Most of which fall in to one of three categories.
1. The born, bread multigenerational entitlement recipients.
2. The filthy rich who never really have to encounter those in the first category so they can afford to be “fashionably liberal”.
3. The law and order liberals. Mostly transplants who are usually younger people who moved to NYC for a job. Usually straight from College where they were liberalized by their professors at their parent’s expense. There’s hope for them though. They usually swing back to the center, or even a bit further right, after they start making a little money and the taxman picks their pocket or they have an up close and personal encounter with someone from the first category that leaves them somehow feeling violated.

Yup. Many on the east side of the Cascades are waiting for the big tsunami that will follow the "Big One" earthquake that is supposed to dump much of the Seattle/Tacoma area into the sea.

Thank god for the electoral college; if it wasn't for this founding wisdom the population centers would control presidential selection. If I were to change anything it would be to calculate electoral votes through ((county annual average GDP X county land area) / citizen population); This format would shore up rural areas like farms and ranches that have high GDP with a lot of land but very low population. It would also reduce the influence from the high density and wealth with little contribution to the GDP.

Sounds to me like Gofirstclass and his neighbors should be procreating instead of posting on forums!

We need your electoral votes.

Now THAT is a funny thought. I had the "snip and clip" operation many, many years ago so there wouldn't be any more little Mike's running around.

Even without that, at my age (early 70's) procreation is so far back in my mind I can't even remember what that term means.
