Searched the forum and couldn't find any reference to the above. I just acquired a 2000 460 Sundancer. The previous owner took meticulous care of the boat and it looks like new. I was wondering what people do to keep the transom door hinge lubed and prevent it from corroding? Also do you use the same on the folding swim ladder?

I am not doubting the WD 40 will remove water but I'm not sure it will prevent corrosion. There is something on the market that will remove water, prevent corrosion, and give the metal a shine. I just don't know what it is and thought someone here might have an idea.

Might try some Yacht Brite Serious Shine.

I've had pretty good success with the Woody Wax kit. For metals you spray / wipe on on the wax, and let sit for a while to remove corrosion. Heavy pitting corrosion can be removed with a longer soak followed by rubbing with some bronze wool. Then brush on the "hard wax" sealer. They claim 6 months of protection with this combination.

Oh, and it does give a good shine. A friend used woody wax on an dull aluminum arch; made it look like new.

Yes, I've heard that name before. I know they make a product for non-skid fiberglass that is supposed to clean and wax at the same time. Someone recommended Collinite which claims to remove corrosion, shine, and protect metal. I'll check into Woody Wax for metal. Thanks.

Corrosion x

it works on anything you want to lube and prevent from rusting. We spray it on anything that can come in contact with saltwater and it keeps it very nice. Now... it is best to get the non aerosol one and it is very thin so you will want a rag to wipe it all down.
