Bonjour a tous,

A bientot

Hello everyone,My name is J Christian, I am 58 years old soon to retire: thumbs up: and I live in Guadeloupe for 17 years.I just bought a Sea Ray 280 SR from 1995 with two 220 hp Mercruiser with alpha socket,A motor block and socket in very bad condition but the hull in excellent condition that requires a small refresh. So the project is to repaint the hull, redo the saddlery and the bigger budget the remotorization.I think to put 2 mercruiser 250 cv mpi new generation with base bravo 1.If one of you has the same boat I would like to exchange information.See you soon

Welcome to CSR J Christian. I've never been aboard an SR, but I'm in a "similar" boat: I have a 1999 280 Bow Rider project boat. Most of the upholstery has already been re-done. I still need to have the helm seat done. I have some drive work and some engine work to do, and LOTS of compounding and polishing of gelcoat.

What on your boat is painted that has to be RE-painted?

Hello RollerCoastr,

Very beautiful boat also the 280 BR.
I made on the SR a complete painting, hull and deck.
I had to come to Miami to buy the engines but very complicated for the transport.
I will make some pictures with the progress of the work.
See you soon

:);)

Hi RollerCoastr,
Or are you with your 280BR?
Do you have pictures ?
I have given up on putting new, too expensive engines.
I will rather put engines recondississeur from home
https://www.perfprotech.com/plus-se...obtail-marine-engine-865108r89/product/188710

with transport I have two motors for the price of one.

Looking forward to reading you.

Hey Christian - good to see you back here.

My 280 still needs some love. I was hoping to have the opportunity to show her that love this spring, but COVID-19 had other plans.

I definitely don't have pictures worthy of being in the same thread as your boat!

I've made some progress though. Here's a 'before' pic of her dash. I bought a replacement wheel from a member here (same design). I've replaced the switch actuators, polished the gelcoat and installed a new stereo with a new cover. A new VHF is still on the list - she'll get one with built-in GPS, but I haven't decided which model.

The stripes have all come off. The hull has a nice shine to it, but there's still significant ghosting from the old stripes. I plan to ignore that though - I never liked the busy look of the original striping. The ghosting of the stripes above the rail is another story though - it's severe from 15 years in the Florida sun, so I will probably replace that with blue, black, silver or a combination. It's interesting to me how much smaller she looks without stripes - usually boats look bigger on a trailer, but the plain white hull somehow makes her appear to shrink...

I'm moving from tan canvas to blue. I still have to get a new camper extension, but the poles were after-market, so it's going to have to be custom made. In this pic, I didn't have all the snaps installed. I have no excuses - by my last count, those covers only needed 770 snaps? lol
