Hello had one of the 350 MPI motors in our 2004 320 DA repowered with a turn key motor from Michigan Motorz. Now when I turn key switch and breaker on in cabin new motor goes into 3 seconds system check and fuel pump begins priming. Then I go up to helm rocker switch and boat starts fine and runs great. When I go to kill motor and turn rocker switch at helm off motor continues to run. I have to go down in cabin and turn key off to kill motor. I have replaced ignition rocker switch to no avail. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

sounds like the switch contacts at the helm is stuck in the run position . I would be taking a closer look at the helm switch.

Thanks for info. I have replaced ignition rocker switch at helm. Almost seems like starter solenoid is being back fed, cause some kind of dual voltage feed.

It sounds like it is wired incorrectly. The in cabin key is turning the ignition to the on position if the fuel pump is activating. That should not be the case.

Agree with this. The helm rocker should have the ability to have one position to activate fuel pump and then full depr as to activate starter. Sounds wired wrong.

The ignition rocker switch is wired correctly and even though I replaced switch the terminals have not been changed since before new engine went in. I’m wondering if starter solenoid is wired correctly on new engine.

One other thing the tech did is he replaced all 4- batteries, not sure that has anything to do with problem

you could pull the wires off helm switch turn the key on and see if it still happens if that stops you problem from happening then you need to look at the helm switch.to eliminate problems take an ohm meter to switch . If starter solenoid was wired wrong the starter would keep running.

Refer to Post 6. It is probably simply a wire or two miss connected. You paid to have it done properly, have the tech make it right.

Contacted Mercury Marine tech said he remembers hearing about problems with repowering with cabin key energizing systems check and fuel pump but can’t remember. Have reached out to Sea Ray and they said they would get back to me. That was last week. Need a Sea Ray/Mercruiser tech in southwest Florida .
