I just purchase a lot in the are of Cape Coral NW and I am building a house moving there from Ft Lauderdale My question I am on the NW Spreder Canal any body familiar with the are. I have a 2001 340 Sundance and like to take it with me from. I don't know if the canal entrance from Matlache is deep enough. I draw 3 feet I have ask the marina in the are they said no problem I mett a gentleman in the FT Lauderdale boat show said no way. In the are I have not seen a lot of sail boat or cruiser boats. It sail boat canal no brige or power line.
.

I winter in the SW cape coral area and have been in your area by boat a few times. Depending on tide, you could get a 340 in and out of the canals but definitely would want to keep your head on a swivel. Even after you get out to matlachi pass you will have skinny water to contend with. I would vote no. Get a deck or pontoon if you want to beach / restaurant hop.

Ok Thank You I hate to get rid of my boat but it is what it is. What most people use to go around the island like Costa, Captiva ect. My wife don't like pontoon and not to fund of deck boat either. I will be moving north of the seven Island on Spreder canal. Can you recommend places to go by boat and hang out sandbar, beaches.

I would recommend a day boat, maybe a 18 - 22 ft. Center console (With a potty!). Can't get the big boats into the beaches and bars. So many cool places down there... My parents live there, no issues taking a 20 footer to Ft. Myers!

We have spent a lot of time in Cape Coral...I would agree a center console is the way to go if looking at day trips

I would say that 75 percent of the boats anchored near shore in the gulf are center consoles and deck / bow riders, 30' or less. We typically go north out of red fish pass to north captiva (miles of beach there). You will be going around the top of pine island, past bokellia then you can go out just north of cayo costa or head south to pelican bay. incredibly beautiful waters and good fishing too.... If you go south past Matlacha stay on the markers !!!!

Thank You guys I think I have to put my boat for sale.:(:(
