I recently purchased a 1993 SeaRay 250 Express Cruiser and the batteries are dead. Not sure if the correct batteries were in the boat as they were both cranking batteries instead of 1 cranking battery and 1 deep cycle battery. Any idea what the original recommendation/installation was?
Thanks for your help.

Really depends on the load for your accessories. There are some really good dual purpose like Deka 27m6 and Sams club Duracell 31 agm that have 1000 amps of starting power but maintain a high reserve for electronics. That would be my choice for a pocket cruiser.

Thanks Paul. At this point I am only planning on using lights and radio for day trips

Yep, 2 large dual purpose will work. Minimum 800 cca and 170 RC. Deka, interstate, Duracell / west marine (relabeled Deka) all are good.

If you have a Battery Plus in your area check their prices as well. Sams Club also runs some killer deals.

When the time came last year I did 3 gel start/deep cycle type 31 marine batteries to replace the type 27's that were installed.

Single engine with 1/2/both/off switch
Thanks
In this setup, I would go with a cranking and deep cycle if I was going to spend any amount of time on the hook, on a regular basis. Or, a pair of dual purpose for occasion and/or short periods on the hook, powering accessories.

Or, a pair of group 29/31 AGM. They go both ways. They offer good CCA and Ah.
