I have a 4 prong 120/240 30 amp outlet on my generator. While my boat is on the hard i would like to plug my 30 amp shore power plug into the generator to power up the boat systems while i'm working on it. Are there any adapters available to make this happen? It would have to step down to a 3 prong 30 amp 120 v plug. Is there any other way to make this happen besides making a cord with two male ends and back feeding with just 120?

I don’t think so. On my generator I can switch it down to 120. Maybe you can do the same?

Good luck. I just looked at my generator and through that outlet I can do 120 or 240, and there is a switch that will control that

Maybe I'm missing something, but can't you just plug the shore power cord into your normal power in outlet, turn on the battery charger and run electrical systems that way?

The only available power is from a portable generator. Shore power plug doesn’t match

Marinco makes a pigtail that has the plug to go into the boat shore power socket and a standard 120v three prong plug. Then just plug a 120 extension into the 120 outlet on the gen. I have one and used the same set up on our 280. You can also use this setup with a residential outlet.

I keep my 280 on a trailer at my house. I also plug my shore power cable into an adapter for a standard 120v wall outlet.
I keep my batteries charged and have even run the on board air conditioner with a water hose in the strainer using the cord. I run my shop vac during cleaning using the boats 120v outlets while using the adapter.
Just be mindful of your overall amperage draw.

I couldn’t find a pre-made cord so I made one. I used a 240v Generator extension cord such as

https://www.homedepot.com/p/309328354

and kept the male side to go Into the generator 240v plug. I cut off the other end off and put a female 50amp 120v/240v shore power plug

I can run the entire boat with this and let’s me charge the batteries and use all shore power while I am working on the boat on the hard.

huh? The boat is 120 why are you feeding it from 240?

I misread the first post. I though Had a 240v system. My bad.
If you used the genny cord I posted the link for you could just use on of the Hot legs (wires) and put a 30amp 125v plug on it. That would let you utilize the 30amp power from the generator.
