This may be a stupid question, but my boat did not come with a manual for the transmissions, I want to change the trans fluid which I know is 30W oil, but I cant get a definitive answer if I have a replaceable filter or a screen that gets cleaned? Or I dont have anything??

I have the ZF 280-IV. I'd think you probably do also. What you have is a reuseable/cleanable screen. I run Penzoil HD 30 oil in mine. Here's a link with some helpful info, the first part is in english. http://www.dbmoteurs.fr/sites/defau...008-3270.280.5155-ZF-DB-MOTEURS-DBMOTEURS.pdf

I just changed my transmission fluids, same set up.
Drain the tranny (I take samples) then remove the big nut. One side drained completely, the other spilled half a quart (port side). I find I need an extension helper to break it open (must be reinstalled with 100 lbs torque if memory is correct). The inside of that nut is a magnetic pick up. Wipe it clean and reach in, the re-usable filter basket will probably have nothing in it, but check it. Re-assemble maybe with a new copper gasket, and fill with 30W.
 
Did you use 30wt detergent or non-detergent oil ? Just curious
