My 2007 engines have the "seemingly" flawed design and one of the units is leaking from the water side barb.
Does anyone have any practice replacing these units? Is this something that an owner can reasonably do himself or is this more technical? The units are expensive as hell and Mercury told me to pound sand when I asked for help.

They had issued a service letter about this bad design back years ago.

Can change it in less than an hour with a few hand tools. Easy except for access.

I thought the known issue was around the paint inside the fuel bowl flaking off and clogging your injectors. Is this another known issue around the barb?

ya, it was made of plastic. So for salt water applications it deteriorates to nothing.
