Official (1998-2002) 310 Sundancer Thread

Thanks a lot! I thought there was a specific type for the 310 SD! I googled it with the p/n from the Parts Manual but couldn’t find anything![/QUOT

They're universal you just need to know depth of the tank.
I think its 27 inches but you should confirm .

2000 310 5.7/b3s. My waste holding tank is leaking. I had the waste system mechanic out. No dampness up top. Only on bottom. He said maybe a cracked tank on bottom. Thoughts? Where to get just a replacement tank?

Forgive me if this has been asked and answered. The mirror in my head has a piano hinge across the top with a velcro snap at the bottom. Can someone tell me why this mirror is hinged? there is nothing behind it.

I have always wondered the same!! Looking forward to answers/theories.

My 340 has the same thing. In the 340 it’s an access panel to get to the back side of the circuit breakers.

That makes sense. Maybe Sea Ray was using economy of scale and using the same mirrors and mountings across the product line.

Good morning. 2000 310 5.7/B3s. My batteries are not keeping a charge. I was able to get one engine started and had to do an emergency start on the other. Based on what I saw in the bilge, I have three batteries. Do I replace all three? If so, all three the same? Anyone have experience replacing the batteries?

One of the three batteries is for the generator if you have one.

One battery is for the port, and two batteries are for the starboard/house/generator. I have one group 27 battery for the port, and to group 29 batteries crank/deep cycle for the starboard. Interstate.
I have also upgraded my battery charger to a smart charger from Pro mariner. I’ve been very happy with this combination,And have yet to deplete the batteries even on a hook all day with all the systems stereos, refrigerator, bathroom, lights.

On the two batteries that are wired together for starboard/house/generator, how to you ensure that if the batteries are drained you can still start the generator? Can you set the battery selector or some other method where overnight, you would only run down one of the batteries for house power demands? This would isolate the generator somehow. As long as the generator starts all batteries can be charged.

It appears to me with the two batteries tied together directly with the #2 battery cable, there is no condition in which both batteries are not connected.

Quick question from a newbie. I noticed the overhead recessed "can" lights in the cabin have both AC and DC light bulbs. Is there any advantage/reason to ever use AC? Since the switches as you enter the cabin control all the DC, I just always leave all on DC, for easy use. What am I missing?

You would start the port engine, and let its alternator charge the starboard batteries sufficiently to start the generator. Of course if all 3 batteries are dead, you are hosed unless you carry a jump-pack.

I believe the helm is wired to the port battery as well so you should make sure and shutdown any helm electronics and/or turn off the port battery selector.

The 2 batteries together are house and starboard engine
The single battery is port engine and generator.

Is there a way to charge the single battery if you are not on the water--Does the on board 12 volt charger have a second bank? After my boat is stored all winter, that battery is very dead. I need a way to charge it prior to launching, and would like to do it without using an external battery charger??

The port battery also runs the anchor light, the windlass, and the 12v cigarette port next to the aft berth.

@BirdieNumNum - You should replace the two batteries in parallel (starboard / house), at the same time. You may get away with replacing the single (port) battery independently.

Follow up to my question: After checking today,my on board charger does indeed have 3 banks. Banks one and two are wired, bank 3 has a jumper wire to bank two. All appears to be factory installed. My single battery is not charging with both battery switches on using the onboard charger (Flybank 20-3). Do all your batteries charge with your on board charger?
