Oil leak from filter hoses

It would probably be a little easier if you were to remove the adapter from the block with the hoses still attached and then do a workbench disassemble/reassemble. If the hoses are failing then the o-ring for the adapter to the block is probably not far behind. $5 part. I have to do both engines as they are weeping but I think it would make more sense to wait until I do the risers and manifolds for better access next spring.

Thank you all for the responses, they all will be a big help in getting this done this weekend.
Good for you for talking on this project and figuring it out. Knowing how to service your boat is a must for a boat ownership inmy opinion.

Sometimes I wonder which one I enjoy more, servicing and maintaining my boat or using it.

Update on this project...so i headed down to the boat on sunday morning to get going on this. After making some room on the port side of the engine by removing batteries and blower hoses, i got started by trying to remove the oil filter. However, it was on there so tight not even a filter wrench could budge it. I gave up on that and began to remove the hose connections from the filter and let the oil drain out from the filter. One thing i noticed was the inside-most hose connected to the large fitting was very hard to get off. It never reached a point where i could finger-loosen it. I had to use the wrench until it came off (this comes important later on). Next, removed the hose connections from the lower block side and let the oil drain. So far, so good. Next step was to put the new hoses on, and this is where things went wrong. When connecting the hose to the large fitting from the filter, i was unable to get the threads started. As soon as the threads would catch, it became too tight to finger tighten, almost like it was cross threaded. I spent far too long messing with this, and eventually took the entire filter, adapter and plate off the mounting bracket in order to look at the threads of the fitting. What i found was the threads of the fitting were damaged, likely from whoever did this the last time, hence why it was so difficult to remove the hose from the fitting. So i have ordered a new fitting and seal and hoping the threads on the hose itself are not too damaged to use. Hopefully all goes well once i get the new fitting.
