I was changing my oil last weekend using the Reverso OP6. Pumped about 4 gal of oil out of the starboard engine then oil sputtered and stopped coming out. Reverso still sounded like it was pumping, just nothing came out.

Switched over and tried the port engine, pump still sounds like it is running, but nothing came out.

Had to wrap up and get home, so I left it as is. Did some research and it seems like the impeller might be bad, so I ordered a rebuild kit.

I'm assuming it's the impeller, but is there anything else I should check if it isn't the impeller? Just want to get a jump on ordering any potential parts so this 2 hr project doesn't become a 2 week project.

I would agree it's the impeller... there is nothing else to really go wrong as long as you can hear the motor running

Another vote for impeller.
FWIW:
The mechanic at the MarineMax store where I bought my boat advised using reverso to remove old hot oil, but pouring thick ambient temperature oil in by hand to make those impellers last longer.

Yup.

And those impellers don't last worth a dang. You may as well put a new one in each year. I have 2 spares on board.

I think there is a special impeller for diesel oil, the last one I bought was brown.
