Well the last kid is in college (Paris) so he won’t miss us. So it’s our first official snow bird migration.
We’ve done done all we can to get the boat and ourselves ready for the trip
We leave on Friday (tommorrow) for New Jersey to meet up with Larry who we’ll travel with to Morehead City NC. Then out the Beaufort (Bow-Ford) inlet and we’ll be on our own.
We rented a slip in Longboat key from Nov-April we’re really excited and can’t wait to get there the place looks awesome.
We’ll snap some pics /fly the drone on the way and post a little bit as we go
Hope to be settled in time to fly home before my New Grandson is born middle of Nov!
So I sit here on the bridge staring at 30 mph winds wondering “when it’ll let up?”
I’ll
Keep
You posted !!

Safe trip Joe! Enjoy and do post pics and keep us updated. Try to keep it under 30 knts

Joe, with your typical speeds will you even be there before the middle of November??? Travel safe, hope you and Martha have a great time. We will be down in two weeks for FLIBS. Are you going?

I am right across the bay from your winter home. Let me know if you want any local knowledge.

Sounds like a plan!

Pics and updates are mandatory.

Officially envious! But thanks to threads like this our boating season can continue vicariously through through your travels and posts while we prepare to winterize! Will be keeping an eye out for the updates! Have a safe trip.

I predict it will be a wonderful trip south.

We spent last weekend at Longboat Key, one of our favorites in the area. Great marina, staff there is awesome and facilities are great.

Look forward to having you in the neighborhood. Let me know if I can be of any assistance with west coast of FL topics or resources.

Have a safe trip.

Very nice! Congrats on being in a position to enjoy such an experience. We hope to do the same in a few years.

Enjoy and looking forward to the pics/video's

UPDATE: thanks to tropical storm #16 in the gulf we have to cancel our departure till next week now
Otherwise we’ll get stuck in Ocean City MD for a few days
I’m disappointed but it’s a no brainer we had hoped to be in Norfolk VA before the weather caught up but it’s not looking good.
I’ll keep watching the weather
Yes Brian I’ll be up on plane for a lot of the trip wiseguy

Joe, that’s awesome that you guys can make that trip. It will be a blast. Have a great time and Make sure to keep the pics coming to help ya get through the winter. I am running the boat to RI on Sunday and then out of the water the following week.

Good luck guys, have a safe trip.

Were taking advantage of what looks to be a on "ok" weekend and heading to Nantucket for Saturday night, the we winter haul a week from today.

Still cant believe were staying at Nantucket Boat Basin for $44/ night including electricity!!!!

Did Rusty give you a copy of "How to Talk and Interpret Southern English?" If he didn't, it will be like you guys are in a foreign country. I'd send you mine, but I gave my last copy to my friend Dr. Ron Lumachi.

Have a safe trip.....

Frank
