Official 330 Sundancer Thread

I would not bridge it with a start battery. You want it to be separate. If you have a three bank charger you can use the extra bank on the charger to charge the generator battery. If you still have the Pro Marine 30 original charger, you could change to the much better newer models. The Pronautic 1230p is a perfect replacement and has 3 banks that can independently charge your two banks and the generator battery.

Thanks that’s what I have the pronautic

Our boat is lacking an inverter, but we have an 8K generator.
I’m curious to know what type of inverter other people have and where they installed it.
Have you received an answer to this inverter and Gen question? I’m in same boat.

Does anyone know where to find a replacement salon ceiling light for amy 2008 330? Photo attached. Marinemax has tried twice thru Sea Ray to get me a new one (because of course its been discontinued) but each time they have shipped a much larger light. The light I'm trying to find is a little over 1 inch in diameter with a brushed chrome finish.

Can’t help, but I have the same boat and wonder how to get the light end out from the ceiling? Screw or pry? Mine seems stuck. TY!

Pry it out gently. Once away from the ceiling mine had sufficient wire that I could pull down to unplug. Doesnt seem like you can access the bulb itself to replace it but maybe others can tell us how to do that if its possible?

I am having an issue when I connect to the dock water supply. The water will only work from the storage tank regardless of whether or not it is connected to shore water. I have read that there is a pressure value that needs to be replaced but I cannot seem to locate it. I have a 2013 330. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone upgraded their water heater tank?

I have a 95 330DA, do you guys know is it a 6 gal or 11? I am going to try and replace it with an 11 gallon regardless I guess.

Did you get the 2008 330? How do you like it so far? I just got one a month ago.

Have not purchased a 330 Dancer yet but looking. Thankfully we have sold the Regal we had so now can get more serious. I hope you are enjoying yours!

Hello All,

I have a 1997 330 Sundancer. I replaced the main gauge panel as the old one was faded - project went fine. Yesterday we changed switch panel, drew out out a schematic of all wires before disconnecting, but of course, it seems a few did not get put back in their proper spot. As such, my starboard engine start switch, bilge pump switch and nav lights switches aren't working..... Any chance anyone has detailed pics of the back of the panel while the switches are connect from a similar project - long shot but thought I'd try. Any assistance would be appreciated.
I have pictures from the back of the gauge panel as well as the lower buttons panel. Msg me if you still need the pictures.

Buying a 98’ 330 Sundancer (super pumped) and wondering if I’m making a mistake not going for the twin 340’s vs the twin 310’s (EFI). It doesn’t seem like a big difference but I guess I won’t know until I own the thing. Figured I’d see if any of you had input, warnings, or could put my hesitations to rest? Thanks all.

It won’t be an issue.

Thanks for the quick response. We’re a family of 5 and I didn’t know if that could have some effect getting on plane with the extra weight (when another family decided to join us). Sounds like it’ll be just fine. Deposit has been put down and our survey is in April, looking forward to a summer on the lake.

Good luck. I assume you have read this thread to find out what to watch for in the survey. Moisture in the deck and rot in the deck core around the windlass, hatches, and windscreen base are the main big concerns. The horizon version of the engines had a major inversion issue with log mufflers and risers too low. If those boats are around they will have been fixed or engines replaced by now. mercruiser 310 hp ones did not. The 330 with v drives is a great boat. I love ours.

Ohh this is going to be an agonizingly long winter for you!!

I ran a 340 for 3 seasons with a family of five. A great boat (mostly the same hull as the 330 you're looking at).

One of the best upgrades I ever made to my 340 was the add a bunk in the midcabin for the third kid. If you think you'll spend a lot of nights on her I'd highly recommend it. Making/taking down the dinette/couch is a pure pain after a while.

Good luck with your winter and enjoy!

Thanks for the input Stee! Wow you really got us curious as to how to add a bunk to the midcabin. Did you custom make something yourself or have a company do? Do you lose the table or is it above it somehow? Sounds very intriguing since we def plan to do some overnighting. I was raised spending weekends on the boat and plan to do the same with my crew.

My 340 version was 1.0 but I will share with you 2.0 as currently installed in my 400. The concept is no different, just a little more room on the 400. I used PVC pipe on the 340 version but wood is so much better and easier to work with. The only downside is the need for the hinge...

I remember when you posted that and I thought it was a cool idea, at least for little kids. I question how workable it is on a 330 for anyone older than 5 years old though. You are using the lower berth sideways, meaning that the kids need to be short. maybe more room on a 400DA?

You can do this with longer kids too :). When my youngest two (on the bottom) get tall enough I'll have them switch 90 degrees and sleep head to toe lengthwise. The bed is a double-ish in size, over 6' wide on both a 340 and a 400. Plenty of room for three "nearly" adult sized people if arranged in this way. The top bunk is 80"+ long so it'll never get too small...

When the kids get fiesty I throw my extra cushions from the cockpit between them. Perfect for separation. It'll work lengthwise too.

I slept on a twin bed through college. If my kids want to complain about the 18" gap between them...I'll start telling stories about "up hill both ways" like any good parent would do.

I guess your kids get along! I can picture the fights over who has to sleep under the top with no clearance over their heads.
