What to do in Portland over the weekend

Hi guys,

I have a weekend layover in Portland, Friday to Sunday. Anyone have any suggestions on things to do in the area to keep from going stir crazy in the hotel?

If you have a car rental you can check out Multnomah Falls. It doesn't take all that long to see, but it is cool waterfall.
Be ready for rain, and then some more rain.
You can come stay here, we're 3 hours away.
It's supposed to rain here also, with a lot of wind, so no boating.
I'm just working around the house getting ready for winter, but we would feed you good, and give you a comfy bed.
Gofirstclass lives over here also.
There's also a really cool air museum south of Portland in McMinnville called Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum.
They have the Spruce Goose there.
 
There's a great Saturday market beneath the Burnside bridge in downtown PDX. Keep in mind that PDX's unofficial motto is "Keep Portland Weird" so don't be too surprised by the 'sights' and sounds of PDX.

Hayden Island is a good place to visit--lots of docks to walk. Keep in mind that OR is a no-sales tax state so if you're looking for something that costs and arm and a leg at home you can get it in OR and not have to pay sales tax.

PDX is made up of many "neighborhoods", each with its own flavor and with its own sights.

If you do decide to head East and come to our neighborhood you'll be driving along the Columbia River and going right through the Columbia Gorge. Like Wyrman said, Multnomah Falls is a great place to stop. The falls is pretty and the ice cream cones are great. I suppose by now the Rose Gardens are done for the year. But Portland is the Rose City so if you're into Gardens you might want to check it out.

There's also a really cool air museum south of Portland in McMinnville

My daughter who is into UFO stuff tells me this is the center of UFO believers. But if you are more down to earth, there are a lot of vineyards and breweries along route 99W leading form Portland to McMinnville

Really? I didn't know that. I do know the Spruce Goose is there, and people that have gone there really liked it.
I have never gone, but if I'm ever down that way, and have time, I would go.

I agree on this museum. It is pretty cool and like was mentioned....The Spruce Goose is there and that is still a cool bit of history. Enjoy....

Thanks for the offer of hospitality Greg!

I ended up going to the museum, spent most of the day there and crawled through the goose. Then I drove over to the coast and searched for the Goonies a bit.

Sounds like you had a good time.
The Oregon coast is beautiful, glad you got over there.
Looks like decent weather, especially since we have a front through the area this weekend.
