This is our first winter with our 2017 SLX 310. The boat has a cover and a full canvas as well. I expect to winterize the boat in the next couple weeks and will likely not use it again until March or April. It will be kept on a lift in our slip in the Northwest.

I read a lot about caring for the canvas, and how people store it etc. Should I remove it and store it leaving the boat with the cover for the winter or is it OK to leave the Canvas on?

Pros/Con's? Be gentle please. I am new to this size vessel.

If you are talking about a cockpit cover, I would remove the canvas and store it in my garage, basement, or under a bed. Best if laid out flat with kraft paper, towels, or old sheets between each piece of isinglass. Properly clean before storing.

My boat is headed into indoor cold storage today. I'll be back up tomorrow to remove the canvas and put the cockpit cover on... canvas will get cleaned and stored at home until next year.

I would not leave the Bimini, Windows, etc up for winter storage. You have a cover - use it! The canvas is expensive and has a finite lifespan. You don’t need to wear it out with winter weather. Take it down, clean it, and store it for the season. Also, don’t try to put a tarp over your canvas cover. The tarp blows around and rubs holes in the cover material. I know that from experience.

Yup. Between the bow/cockpit covers and the enclosures, the enclosures are much more expensive. Let the bow/cockpit covers take the heat over the winter... see what I did there? ;)

Another thought... if your slip has walk-arounds, it may be possible to get it shrink wrapped.

Cover it for sure and save the wear and tear on your canvas.
Buying, storing a cover and erecting framework for it aren’t practical for my 410 so I have it shrinkwrapped.
I did the same with my old 300.
But, if I still had the 300 I might look in to a cover as an alternative to shrinkwrap to see if it was cost effective or otherwise made sense.

Yup. Cockpit cover. The NW winter will leave green slime that is rough on the windows of the canvas.

Im in jersey and i shrink wrap it. Built a fram out of 1 inch pvc to form the same as the camper top. Installed a zipper door so i can still tinker along in the winter months and chip at the to do list. Clean and treat my canvas and hang in the basement.
