Who runs the Merc. winter solution through your engines?

Some don’t ever fog and have no issues.

I prefer to fog the motor. The thought of having a coating of oil on the exposed cylinder walls helps me hibernate in the winter.
Espo do you have any tips that will prevent fuel from spilling all over the place when I disconnect the fuel line to attach the portable fuel tank for fogging?

I remove the whole sending unit from the top of the tank and drop it into the portable tank.

It’s easy access in a 240 Sundeck. Not sure how your SLX is set up.

Another, primary reason, for the "mixture" is to protect the fuel injectors from gumming up from that last little drop that hangs on the tip.

Interesting thread (and info, gracias).

Just so I am clear; does any of this pertain to outboards?

The "cocktail" mix that is (we add PRI-G and SeaFoam in prescribed amounts to the fuel tank and give the engine a good run before freezing temps arrive - I didn not fog the spark cylinders last year but, I intend to this year!)

For the last 10 years I have used Sta-bil 360 (formerly "Easy Store, Easy Start"). I add it to the fuel tank and run it until the engine starts smoking significantly more that normal. It stabilizes the fuel, even though my boat has never seen ethanol, and fogs the cylinders. It runs a little smokey in the spring, but always starts right up.

2-cycle oil in the gas for purposes of “lubricating cylinder walls” doesn’t make sense.

It should be combusted w the gas and if anything would leave soot not lubricant on walls.

That’s your engine oil’s job. If you use sino then the oil remains on the cylinder walls much longer.
