HELP!! wet floor in aft cabin 350DA

Clean your shower sump. If it is clogged with gunk and/or hair it will quit pumping and overflow and eventually get that aft area carpet wet.

His shower sump may be just clogged or is totally non functional, I opened the sump pit and pulled the filter that is around the pump and it wasn't pretty at all. Hopefully the sump is still functional and just needs cleaned, if that is the case I believe his problem will have been solved. He also stated that the rear pump that is not in a box has a potentiometer adjustment to it, he use to hear it beeping all the time and I think he stated that he turned it off. Does that pump beep consistently due to being an alert that there is a problem with the primary pump?

Interesting...I found my shower sump wasn't working day one after the high water alarm went off due to overflow...never had one of those before and literally disconnected all the batteries to kill it. I would awesome his boat is the same as mine and that tube is literally ensuring there's a connection to the rear bilge and if that other sump pump is kicking in you're getting a high water alarm.

I'm someone with a lot more insight will chime in.

Makes sense since he has water in the center channel in his bilge as well. perhaps the fiberglass around the hole has just developed a leak and instead of draining into the bilge it is also leaking into his aft cabin.

Wai, I have a long cable that we can pass through the hole and see if it comes out somewhere in your bilge to make sure there are no obstructions there either.

On my shower sump pump, the check valve flap was shot and making the pump run until it failed. They just clipped the wire :) When the water overflowed during my first test, my alarm went off. Given he has a larger boat and another pump, that beeping was properly his warning to investigate since that pump should rarely be used unless water is coming in to the mid cabin. BTW three of my check valves were bad...two flaps would literally just hanging there and one ball based check valve was full of gunk...cleaned that one, replaced the other two and all the pumps work as they should.

PS I also took my water hose and blew out the discharge line on the shower sump...pretty interesting all the junk that was floating in the water when I looked.

What's that bare nipple on the box for...the one under the label AC Condensate, shouldn't something be hooked to that? If that's an open hole into the box wouldn't water entering from other sources like shower come out of that hole? Could someone have pulled the condensate hose off because the pump inside the box wasn't working, their thinking being that the water would exit through where the condensate hose was supposed to be...and be pumped out by the other pump.

That is a sealed connector...you can tell it has not been cut for adding a hose to it.

that's correct, I checked all the nipples to make sure they were all still sealed. That coupled with the fact that the sump box was 100% full when I first checked it indicated that the water is only coming out as overflow from under the lid.

Went back again tonight, looks like the one tube may have had issues before, either that or it was never glassed in properly before... here is a picture...

Here is a quick short video I took so I could see it clearer... hopefully this helps someone in the future:

Still think the issue is shutting off the mid cabin (high water) pump and the shower sump pump not working correctly which allowed the overflowing water. Ultimately you shouldn't have standing water in that sump area unless your really taking on a lot of water and/or you have a shower sump box issue and don't resolve it. I would think only in the rarest of situations would water flow through those tubes. Certainly an easy fix to dry it out and use some sealant or reglass it, but the problem should go away with fixing the two pump issues.

^^ Agreed. The leaking around the hose is just due to the shower pump failing and Turning off the backup pump

Pretty ironic really. I expect that Sea Ray installed the backup pumps as a fix for complaints about wet floors from plugged sumps, and people are disconnecting them because the high water alarms are going off "for no reason".

I'm glad you got the problem sorted out though. Shower sump water is almost as nasty as black water.

I told Ethan's Tank he owes me a beer and a burger for helping him out since I live near the marina. Also told him I'm pretty sure his boat gave me aids when I reached into the sump box lmao.

Thanks Mike for helping me with all this and letting me borrow the shopvac and air blower.

So i added more silicone around the 2 pipes in the sump, and blasting that wet area with 2 air blowers, so hopefully it keeps things. I was surprised though since I didn't run the AC the entire week and K-nutz ran his de-humidifier, the carpet was slightly damp. I did open up that trap door to the AC unit and the drain pan was dry, the painted surface around the unit was dry and didn't look wet, so I wasnt sure exactly what is causing this still.

As for the 2 pipe and the theory that it runs to the bilge in the engine room? I wet vac all the residual water in the center channel of my bilge {and I am curious why that got filled up} and that bilge channel is completely sealed up going towards the bow and the only other hole I saw was the drain plug. I ran my boat about 16 miles on Sunday and that channel stay dried.
I will have to run that coaxial cable k-nutz let me borrow and push it through and see where it ends up.

The last thing I did do since I showered there over the weekend which I did saran wrap the 2 pipes prior to turning on water, I wet-vac all that sump water left in the sump and stuffed the vacuum hose up the A/C condenser hose and heard a 'whoop' from the vacuum when I did that, when I did open up the vac to open, I didn't find anything but a clump of hair/fur, not sure if that was from that hose or just from me vacuuming everything else too. Fingers crossed I just hope that may be the issue but that makes me wonder if my AC condenser hose is cracked somewhere in the middle since the drain pan was empty.

I did order another pump on amazon since the original was busted

My buddies 330 had a mid birth floor wet that was traced to rain water not being able to drain due to the rear deck drain was plugged with leaves,

Mine was rain water, also. Loose screws on threshold to cabin. I was in the mid berth, watching tv, during a rainstorm, and saw droplets from the top step down. Time to fix, 1 minute and $0.

I had the same problem with my 2008 330 DA. It turned out that the AC drain line was partially clogged. There was condensate getting to the sump, but it was also backing up in the drain pan under the AC unit. The result was the water sloshed out over the pan, went under the mid-cabin seats and started making the floor wet. Marine Max re-ran the condensate line and now we have no problems.
You can confirm this by opening the storage cabinet on the port side in the mid berth. At the back of the storage area there should be a panel with screws. Remove the panel and the AC unit is behind there. If you see water aft of the pan or seeping over the due of the pan, there is your problem.
Good luck!
I have the same boat, I havent had any leaks but incidentally took off that panel yesterday just exploring the boat and noted a water level in that drain pan--Why did Marine Max re-run the condensate line? Is it not possible just to clear it out like in a home AC unit? Push some fluid through it or suck it with a shop vac? How much did they charge ya?

TideRoll77,
In my case, I bought the same kit from amazon that searay used, and re-installed everything. Since it was the same one, it was pretty much plug n play. Since you don't have a leak, I would worry too much about it. IMO, it would be safe to purchase the same kit and have one on hand in case the pump breaks. As for the clogged hoses, i ran a shop vac on each of them and sucked out any loose debris.
here is the link on amazon, I paid about $70 for mine:

Hi Ethan's Tank
I'm new to this forum and not yet sure of forum protocol. I found your post about "wet floor in aft cabin 350DA". I have the exact same issue as shown in K-Nuts pictures of mid-berth/aft cabin wood floor which shows it being wet where the floor meets the carpeted couch support. Mine also seems to be starting from the port side. My shower sump appears to be working and does not overflow; my AC pan is almost completely dry except for the little bit of water by the drain hole. I could not find a post with any resolution to this problem. I hope this post finds you and that you were able to resolve your issue. Thanks in advance.
