Trying to get proper flushing procedure for flushing a 2005 sundeck 240 5.0 W/ bravo 3 while on the trailer . My understanding is to close seacock and connect to adapter hose on engine topside. at this point adapter is broken. Can i replace adapter with a standard hose fitting and cap to flush motor .
Thanks ,
Pete

Do you have a seacock?
It would Have been installed aftermarket.

I have the flushkit on mine. As long as the fitting isn’t inserted into the receptacle on the manifold, I just use rabbit ears when in the trailer.

The flushkit is only for use when in the water.

Just to give a little more info. Purchased boat recently with stipulation that seller have new longblock installed at his expense at what i believe to be a reputable shop. Tech told me drive has no impeller hence the raw water threw hull pickup. Am i misinformed and should i be worried about the Tech.
thanks ,
pete

No thru hull on mine. Raw water comes up thru the outdrive. I have a garden hose quick coupler just before sea pump for flushing

You were not misinformed. The impeller for Bravo drives are in an engine mounted raw water pump and not in the drive. It is either belt driven or coupled to the end of the crankshaft.

Thanks for the info guys. so , as to my thought replacing factory hose adapter with a direct garden hose fitting or better yet an external fitting so i don't have to drag the hose into the boat . what do you think ??

With out a seacock
Go to the suction side of the pump ,cut the hose , install a T and a ball shutoff valve, then connect the garden hose to it

With a seacock
Close seacock, have the ball valve and hose adaptor installed in the cap of the thru hull strainer. Some have drilled and taped the top cap of the sea strainer for the ball valve

Mine has an aftermarket thru hull, prior owner had disconnected the leg pickup and installed a hose flush connection. Was a bad deal for me, the decontamination station equipment popped off the raw water pump intake hose. Had to replace impeller and housing, only took a few seconds.

Based on mercruiser recommendation, I had my mechanic install a tee so that the engine draws off both the leg and thru Hull when the sea clock is open or just the leg when it is closed. Makes it easy to use the rabbit ears and run it on the trailer.

Can get more info on your coupler before sea pump ? Picture ? My boat is in saltwater all year round and in the water all the time. i am looking for an easy way to flush the engine on a regular base - i have a 350 mag with b3 sterndrive

Ok thanks - may i ask, what do you actually flush with this ? - and how to use ?
You flush without using the engine ( as when engine runs you still suck raw water ) ?

With sufficient water supply, the hose supplies more water than the engine consumes when running, so you run on hose water and flush out the path down to the outdrive.
