Been trying to track down a leak into the cabin ceiling and inspected the caulk around my deck windows. Noticed a spot that was really soft and sticky. Almost looks like a solvent was spilled on it but don’t think so. It’s been a month and still sticky. can i just replace that portion with some 4000uv?

had some caulk fail where the crew seat married to the deck on my 400DA. Pretty much the same thing as what you have; just lost it's properties. I had to remove as much of the old stuff as I could; really digging it out; clean it up with acetone; then re-caulk with 3M 5200. Probably should have used a less aggressive caulk material but it all worked out.

After researching polyurethane caulk, seems this is normal after 10 years.

No end to the upkeep I guess!

Found the problem. Took the skylights out. The caulk failed where the foam pads are. Notice one side the pads are at the edge which is right under the caulk. the other side, the pads are not under the caulk.

The lights are tempered glass. Any suggestions on proper installation? silicone or polyurethane caulk? i think i would rather have a full bead of caulk instead of foam under the glass for support in addition to the caulk in the gap
