Boat Info
1995 Sundancer 330 DA
Engines
7.4 Carb V drives
Hi, I am getting a warning horn and light at any rpm over 1000 on both of my v drives and have no idea what is causing it? boat is new to me, so do not have any experience with her.
Boat is a 1995 Sundancer 330 with 7.4l Mercruiser engines.
V Drives are: Hurth hsw 630 v1
Any ideas?
Thanks!

P.S. I checked the fluid level, seemed ok...
Also there is a rattling noise when the starboard motor is put into gear, seems to go away at higher rpms though...

I'm no expert, but if your getting a vibration I would think you might have a bad shaft and or the packing is needing attention.

You posted another thread for a Systems Monitor Panel. Which lights are coming on randomly?

The rattling noise or better known as sounds like marbles on some are kinda normal. It’s not the trans or engine, it’s the dampener plate between the two. Some are looser “springs” than others. Some solves are to tune the engine as in idle the engine runs rough and the dampener takes the beating, hence sounds like it’s from the trans.

as for the alarms, check the tranny coolers, may need cleaning and they are overheating. Pull the hoses off both ends and shine a flashlight thru each tube to verify no blockages. Don’t use a coat hanger to clean!

run the boat and have fun!

Thanks so much! I am also going to check out a possible (probable) false alarm for the systems monitor board..it seems sketchy...
Was going off the other day showing transmission and low oil pressure even though the engines had not run in days!
