They last month and half the spiders have come out of nowhere here in Kenosha WI. They probably have their own website.

Home Defense is an Ortho product that works well. It works so well that we used it in WA and it drove all the spiders to your neck of the woods.

BTW, we don't need 'em back. Y'all in Georgia can just keep 'em.

Couple of tricks we learned in our covered slips.
Once a week we spray everything. The overhead and near any lighting. Saturate your dock lines and keep the area around your boat clean. Spray in the late evening or first thing in early mornings. They are out and more active.
Home Defense works the best for us here as well. It doesn't seem to bother canvas or fiberglass

One word of caution. If you have dock pets, turn their water bowls over. We have always done this just to be careful.

Then take a pump up sprayer and mix up Suspend SC. Spray every 2 weeks around the slip and we have all but gotten rid of them. I kill maybe 1-2 every couple of weeks.

I could get a pet............ Lizards, frogs, and toads are among the animals that eat spiders

They are a pain. The swallows just finally left a couple of weeks ago so now it’s just cleaning up after the spiders.
Be careful with the bombs, those of us who have been around a while will recall a member here that almost killed himself with spider bombs.

Home Defense works well, but an equally effective, cheaper and quicker way to spray is to use a vegetable garden spray that attaches to your garden hose and hit the entire dock and boat. Takes just two or three minutes and lasts for several weeks. Let it dry on your boat for a couple of days before you plan on washing it. Does not stain, and it also keeps the birds away since their food supply disappears.

Sevin?

Get some moth balls and put them in a few places in little containers

On a related note. Spider poop removal. It is a real pain to get off. I have kept them out of our cockpit with sprays, but they make webs all over the rails and antennas at night and poop all over the gellcoat and if it sits for a few weeks while we don’t go to the boat, it is hard to remove.

What do you all find works the best?

I’ve just sprayed Suspend SC on the outside areas that attract spiders - bow pulpit and cockpit sides where rails, sides of boat, blower vents, and electrical connections all meet up - and provide a plethora of scaffolding for spiders to work with. Its been working great so far. Curious to see how it works next spring when midges comes to town - they leave a green smear everywhere thats just about as bad as spider poop.

Have had pretty good luck using Spray Nine on spider poop. They make a "marine" version, but I can't tell the difference (except in price!).

I put some polish (Starbrite PTEF) on a microfiber towel. Gets it off and leaves a freshly protected surface.

Nothing I have found can take the place of a good wax job. With that, a damp paper towel works good. For stubborn spots, Starbrite Bird and Spider Poop Remover is as good as I have ever found.

We started using it this year and The Admiral is VERY impressed! (It actually works better if you let it “sit” or “dwell” on the stains momentarily , then rub or wipe ...)
