keeping interior clean?

Been doing exactly as JVM225 on 3 boats for 20+ years. Ours were filthy when we purchased our 340. Cleaned up real nice with drill brush. Now just a quick wipe down and good to go.

Simple Green. Works well, cheap, and you don't feel like you are dumping caustic chemicals into the water or eating away your hoses, pumps or connections.

Old thread, but can’t get enough of detailing type threads.

I generally just use a damp cloth, and always put the cover up when we leave the boat.
For deeper dirt I’ve been using my new favorite all purpose cleaner. LA’s Totally Awesome Cleaner which is cheap and available at Home Depot for less than on Amazon. It’s a concentrate that I use about 50/50 with water in a Spray bottle. Spray it on and wipe down with a damp terry cloth rag. Easy Peasy!
BTW: Works great on all kinds of stuff including the wheels and barrels of the wheels on cars.
Once the seats are clean I use 303 Protectant on them to keep them looking good.
On my 3rd season with this boat. I knew when I bought it that I had to redo the cockpit vinyl, but although old, it came clean enough with the LA’s that it looks presentable and I keep telling myself I can get one more season out of it.
They sell it at dollar tree !! In the big size ,it’s my go to cleaner

Less is more when it comes to cleaning any type of fabric, vinyl etc. My boat stays covered in an indoor drystack, the 20yr old seats look as new as they good. No stains, cracking, seam rips etc. Everyone has their "special recipe" and a lot of them work well. I think the agreed on things to stay away from are:

Bleach (except in special stain removal cases) it will wreck the stitching.
Abrasives like Soft Scrub, Mr Clean Eraser (again except in special stain removal cases).
Solvents like Acetone.

This is my method:
  • I generally do a deep clean each spring, using Spray Nine and a stiff brush.
  • Rinse the Spray Nine residue.
  • Apply a generous application of 303 Vinyl Protector.
  • Throughout the summer, I will wipe down the seats with a damp towel as needed.
  • I do my best to keep suntan lotion/spray off the seats. Ie apply the stuff standing on the swim deck.

On yes - Definitely keep the suntan spray off. We have oversize towels that go down when anyone uses tanning lotion or spray. Suntan spray and hot sun = a stained mess.
