Hi all...I have had since new a 2006 290 SD. It is a little small for our needs and a friend has his 2003 320 for sale. It has twin 350's and V-drive. (Currently I have a single 496 with I/O.)
Any concerns I should look for? He is pricing it at 55,000 since the boating season is over. It has 900 hours and everything works. No major work or issues are known.
Thoughts????

Awesome boat. We had ours for 5 years and aside from getting rid of the painted cool fuel module there are no gotcha's with that boat. If its a fresh water even better. Some may say that the 5.7 motors were a bit under powered for that boat but we had no complaints

Freshwater? Great. Saltwater, see if it has closed cooling, that would be preferable. Have the water pumps been replaced? Mine went after 11 years and sprayed salt water on all of the pulleys, had to replace all pulleys, belt, alternator, x2. The engines are hard to access.

I should have mentioned it is a freshwater boat. We have no salt water within 200 miles of us so it didn't even occur to me, other than 20 years ago I bought a SR 270 SD from salt water and regretted it.
Thanks!

We love our 320, would really love it in freshwater! The salt is definitely an issue that we have to stay on top of. We like that we can still get to almost all of the places we used to with our 23’ deck boat, but now we have a kitchen, 2 fridges, generator, and the ability to stay out for the evening or use it as a condo in the city. We replaced the carpet in the salon, not sure if that is something you care about, but my wife is definitely anti-carpet on a boat, literally anywhere. Salon, cockpit, you name it.

I have had my 320 for 12 years (Since new). The boat is really a great boat. For two people it is great. Motors have been good we have 475 hours on it. The boat really doesn't have any real issues in regards to the model. Since you know the owner and how it is kept that is a bonus. I find in freshwater mine needs new bottom paint after 4 seasons. I like the V drives a lot. The bilge is cozy. But manageable.

I'm going to pass on the one I was looking at...too many projects and hours. I did find a 2004 320 freshwater. 6.2's, V drives and around 400 hours. Looks to be pristine...but so is the price. 85K. It does have many of the things we want though including a camper top and wood table in the wraparound...Wish me luck looking at it Friday!

I am surprised how much some owners negotiate. Especially close to winter time. Good luck on the 2004.

Thanks...The storage and winterization fees are already paid for this year so I figure that's worth 3K...The camper tops are rare to find and I figure that's 3K if we were to add...which we would...
See what I did there?? Convincing myself to get the checkbook out! hahaha....

Let us know how the search goes; You aren't alone. I am also in a 290 and also considering stepping up to a 320/340 (although also considering a switch to Cutwater...but that's a serious digression).

A new custom camper top would run closer to 6-8k (ask me how I know). Just helping you spend money :)

I have a couple of friends in a 320. Whole different ballpark. The extra beam and a little more length make a world of difference.
I will...with any luck next week it will be registered in my name.

I had a 2003 320 with 5.7’s for 4 years. Just grew to a 400DB this year, but loved the 320. The layout is the best of the Dancers, IMO. And I didn’t find the 350’s to be underpowered. With a clean hull, I could cruise in the mid 20’s knots at under 4000 RPM. It was easy to run, easy to dock. About the only negative was trying to stand between the engines! Lol. Good luck!

Here’s my 2 cents... We owned a 2003 320 SD bought new w 350 V-Drives, Very slow to get out of water and always seemed like it was working so hard. 3 years later trade up to 2004 340SD 8.1 V Drives. What a BIG difference it was actually fun to drive (comparatively) effortless power no mater how many were on board. The extra width was nice too, I think it was 6”. Personally would not buy the 320 w/350 V drives. Had friends with 350 Bravo III that came out of water faster. Fuel economy was negligible. Sold the 340 with 3 boys in college. We love our current 290SD as we can trailer if needed and usually just wife and I with our friends. Next boat we will retire on...48’ plus.
All the Best

Bought a 320 in pristine cond with 450 hours. 6.2 with V-Drives, Camper top, bow thruster....
Anyone know if the stock radio is ready to pug in an IPod somewhere?
I couldn't find it and not near the boat for a week now.
Also...do they make specific sheets to fit the V-Berth?
