Anybody have any feedback after a few seasons? How well did it hold up? Can you switch back
to waxing after you apply ceramic. Thinking of doing it in the spring and I am afraid of possible long term issues. It looks great when first applied but does it work as advertised and is it worth almost twice the price? Is there one system that is superior? Certified installer? Thanks for the feedback.

This comes up every year. I simply have this to say. Prove it. I have yet to see any coating last as advertised. We wax our boat 2-3 times per year and I constantly get praise on how good it looks. The ceramic prices around here are crazy and to have a payback it has to outperform wax and I just haven’t seen one product that fits the formula.

I tend to agree. Haven’t checked in a while to see if anyone is selling a Ceramic Coating for Marine use that is formulated for use specifically by an individual owner, but I’m sure it won’t be long before that happens and guys start posting reviews on the internet.
If and when that happens I’ll give it a try.
There’s already a ton of them out there for automotive use.
In the meantime, if you want to get something to use that lasts a bit longer give Rejex a try. It’s a sealant.
The best way to apply it is after you completely strip the surface of any old wax. Apply the Rejex to the clean surface and a day later you can top it with a good Carnauba wax to get that nice warm shine. Just be careful not to use a cleaner wax because that will strip the Rejex.

Guy did his truck, paid $500 to have it waxed/ceramic coated about 2 years ago. Couldn't tell then and def can't tell now. For me a good wax once a month, and some elbow grease keeps me active and boat looking great.

I had my car ceramic coated a year ago. I washed it yesterday. It still sheds water like a duck and the shine is great. I refresh it with Reload every few months. The prices being charged by many vendors to ceramic coat cars is outrageous. If those prices were extrapolated to a boat it would not make sense.

My brother and nephews own a business called RestoreFX. It’s a chemical application that bonds to car paint. The manufacturer RestoreFX can be found on YouTube. They’re starting a marine application as well.

The primary purpose of all those products is paint protection not shine per se.

I had my truck done and nothing sticks to it. They give you a spray bottle to reapply after 6 mos to a year and then it’s almost permanent.

I’m not doing my boat cause I’m in fresh but if salt I would mainly because salt residue won’t stick.

To me this is a gimmick just like "paint correction". Wax like we've done for years and put the money towards something else. I use Meguiars Spray Wax every couple washes and it keeps the water beading and the shine up. That ceramic makes any paint/gelcoat repairs interesting for the guy doing it because if you don't get it off it will mess it up. Taxes last forever-paint coatings don't! HA!
